Default Porsche 959 Trivia: Can you tell me what this is?

959 Trivia: See the long bent tool that came in the tool kit?

Can anyone identify what it is for?

The first person to answer correctly gets a 959-related gift (Hans 9-59, give some people on this side of the pond a chance ..... its fair game for you after.... let's call it 1 hour from when I post this ))

Looks like it could be a type of front or rear lid prop or lock of some sort?

Also, Thank you for sharing your photos and information on the Porsche 959. It's incredible stuff

Jimmyrepasi is right: bar props open the engine compartment, required when using the rear tow hook. Very interesting!

3mph, you beat me to the reveal, yes, this is what the tool is used for! I love how in the manual it writes: " the towing hook can also be used to take another car in tow"!! LOL))) As if you would use your 959 to tow another car!!

Do you still have the 959? I've missed it every time it got out to one of the cars and coffees.

Was at Porsche Chandler picking up a 992 a couple weeks ago and these two were in for service. Don't see two together like this very often.

Default Special Interior Options

Thought I would add to this post a bit with some interior options variations

Standard Interior options:

Seat Options:
1) Seat without extra lumbar
2) Seat with lumbar support (think of 930 turbo seats)
3) "Lollipop" 935 race seats

Seat Materials:
1) Leather
2) Partial Cloth/Partial Leather

Seat Colors:
1) Black (leather only)
2) Grey with stripping
3) Burgundy with stripping

The above has been discussed and is well-known (if someone wants me to post the "standard" I will), but, I want to show the not so well known interior Special Interior Options/colors:

#900021 - I do not believe this is original from the factory

#900070 - Blue Leather with stitched stripes

#900089 - Multiple Colors with wood trim options

#900103 - Black Leather with pin-striped Black Cloth

#900106 - Black Leather with Red Piping

#900134 - Red Leather interior

#900142 - not original from the factory (and yes, this is the first wrecked 959 that was converted to a multiple speedster/cabriolet/coupe)

#900151 - not original from the factory

#900171 - Two-tone Tan and Burgundy interior

#900176 - Multiple Colors with wood trim options

#900178 - Tan Interior Colors with wood trim options

#900191 - Blue interior

#900203 - Carmel interior

#900207 - Tan interior with red stripes on the seats and wood trim options

#900210 - Red interior

#900212 - Black with Red Piping

#900218 - Multiple Colors with wood trim options

#900228 - I do not believe this is original from the factory

#900239 - Black with Red stripes on the seat

#900241 - Red Leather Interior with Tan Piping

#900245 - Brown interior (hard to see, if anyone has a better photo of this interior please post or send to me)

-Ben

So happy to find this thread! I've literally been watching Canepa 959 videos on Youtube nightly. I have beyond plenty of time and 18 pages here to read, My favorite car of all time.

Whoa. Need sunglasses for that one.

I assume one of the Sultan's, judging by the stripe on the door.

Porsche released some interior of two of the Sultan cars a while back.

This is not one of the Sultan's. From my knowledge, this, and the similarly styled orange, gold, and black one (as well as 4 others...if someone has photos of the others, can you please send them to me?) all belonged to Emir Al Thani.

There is a new Porsche Tool Reference website: www.OriginalPorscheTOOLS.com

and there is a section for 959 Tools:

I hope everyone has fun with the site!

Hi, I know this is an old thread but I'm trying to get hold of this tool. Does anyone know a part number or know where I can purchase it?
Thanks
John
