That's a great video...still have a VCR copy.
Someone, Alain de Cadenet...?, needs to do an update of Porsche.

In that sense it is very different from the P1 which seems to be a concept of maximum attack track performance.

There is a usability element of the 918 which is very appealing.
Steve is a good driver and crashed the p1 , we have already had another crashed p1 in the uk .

Perhaps a car with f1/ Le Mans type performance without the slick tyres and aero would work better with 4wd , 4ws , tv and a proper diff ?

Ze Germans know what they are doing my friends , they know what they are doing .

Yeah, as I commented much earlier in a similar post that with that type of torque available in these cars, that Porsche was very wise to use 4wd.

We also have to keep in mind, that 918 has much more torque than P1, which is important advantage. Weight on the other hand is very possible to much identical than all ppl expect, imo...

Btw, great forum!

wtdoom,

following your well informed posts, do you think that nobody has driven the 918 with "full power", including Valencia event? Very curious about this...

Yes Valencia cars were the cars we drove , according to Porsche not full power .
Also they may be going back to the ring with the final spec 918 .
This time the systems are optimised , the front engine works faster and for longer , the active aero will be working , minimum 10 seconds they say . With vid , with independent observers , with independent timing , in short the German way . None of this he said , she said , "my daddy has a faster car than yours " madness .
Personally I wouldn't bother , they won the ring war as far as I'm concerned . Now it's about reliability , customer support and just plain fun!

Yes over a lap I think .

After seeing sutcliffes video he clearly prefers the p1 . This doesn't surprise me driving the cars in isolation and in the eyes of a reviewer not an owner , it makes it's power etc very dramatically . It's wilder where the 918 is more like a deranged veyron .
