Sounds like BS to me. Tesla famously was never able to get a stout enough 2 speed gearbox for the roadster. If 8kg were that important, hey ditch the batteries altogether. (Tongue in cheek. Of course, I understand it's 8kg for the sake of top speed -- a different proposition than 8kg in general.)

Chris was able to make me proud of owning a vehicle by the same company that could produce such a thing.

I also just finished watching the EVO mag video released on the testing of the 918. Richard Meaden drove the track behind a 991 Turbo S and honestly, it was tough to watch after Chris' drive.

Perhaps I just love CH's delivery of emotion and not-so-censored reviews, but Richard's "automatic shifted" drive was "meh" at best. A shame, really. I used to love EVO mag, but Drive is really delivering it these days.

Well, CarMaven, I was partly wrong. This Australian reviewer in the video below says that his drive was being filmed by the lead Turbo in his test drive, not by a camera truck! I still content that Chris Harris got special treatment and his allowed camera work on the two drives was more extensive than all others!

Well, wrong again in the case of this Australian reporter. He is seen driving around a city street in Valencia on a 918. Some of the other videos of a 918 slowly & carefully driving in the grounds of 'Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias' (attached photo) in Valencia are PR film shot by Porsche and provided to him as filler. But at least this reviewer bothered to drive the 918 in Valencia city traffic, which still makes little sense to me.

Happy Holidays.

Well, he wasn't the only one that was cruising in town. Several of them did. They had the option to be on the track, and them drive around town, escorted by Porsche officials according to some.

Micheal Harley, of Autoblog did this, for example (not sure if HE had an escort). Either way, many of them, drove on the track, then in town. CH, chose to drove on the track both times, according to him via his first Piston Heads article.

PS: Automobile magazine, Porsche themselves, and other media, say Porsche sold 600 918's up to this point. So I would take what the Polish guys said with a grain of salt. Not calling him a liar. He was probably just making a quick reference/point, while doing his presentation.

It's all good. I/We appreciate all the information you provide us here on a regular basis.

Happy New Year!!
