Default CGT mileage question

Looking at a 05 CGT with 4600 miles. My question is, for some reason, I just dont feel like it looks how it should with such low mileage. Maybe Im overly **** retentive, but is it possible for someone to disconnect the odometer on these cars? If I can send it for PPI, will that disclose any issues?

Thanks in advance...

I don't think its possible to turn off or unplug the odometer on these cars. Here is my advice, I have owned 2 of these cars. People rave about low mileage but truth be told my current car has double the miles, but it runs a lot better than my lower mile car. The clutch and gearbox operates better, the car drives smoother than my 2500 mile car.

If condition is rough, get it paint corrected detailed, I promise that will change the car as a whole. If it has the clear bra on it then I think your safe. Just my .02! Buy it and enjoy it.

I agree with Graham. My friend's Carrera GT is currently at a dealer getting $30K+ worth of maintenance - replacing shocks, water pump, etc- due to the ill effects of sitting in his garage and not being driven on a regular basis. Not driving these cars often is a big negative for the motor, chassis components & brakes as they can rapidly deteriorate while they 'sit'. I need to heed that advice myself with my 55K original mile/original paint & interior 1970 911E Targa! So don't be afraid of a higher mileage car if it has been well maintained and the owner is a sensible auto enthusiast!

Saludos,
Eduardo

Thanks guys! Im not worried about higher mileage, what Im worried about is at a later date something showing up on a computer readout that I didn't see myself.

Not possible to do so undetected on these cars. If the car doesn't feel right, pass. Not every owner treats their cars with care.

Is it the exterior that doesn't look good or interior?

The interior... The exterior looks great as the car is covered in clear bra.

If it's the seat bolsters that show wear, it could mean that the previous owner didn't enter the car gently. It's hard to get in and out of those seats. That's an easy fix.

If the everything passes and you love the car, you can have that repaired easily. I can refer you to a mobil person that does a great job repairing leather.

I'm curious what aspects of the interior are worn?
If it is the leather on the seats, perhaps that can be refinished.
Are there scratches on the CF door sills or any other areas?

I picked up a 6600 mile CGT and it looks brand spankin new

The zen of the car. If the interior looks abused or doesn't 'feel right', then move on.

Trust the "BLINK" By this, I mean that if your initial and instant instinct tells you that something is not right with the car, you walk away. On a purchase of this magnitude, you should not have to talk yourself into anything.

Yes, the seats are scuffed. Some small scratches on the sill, and on the steering wheel.

Was told that if the odometer was disconnected it would simply trigger a check engine light upon reconnection. Then that could be easily cleared. The ECU does not record mileage.

The ECU records both mileage and hours. Those will be out of whack with the odo if disconnected.

I suspect a DME can interpret mileage by looking at engine run time, etc
