Default New beast!

Very happy to have joined the CGT owner's club. I've been waning to for a long time and finally pulled the trigger.

Only a brief 50 miles yesterday but they were dramatic. The clutch is maddening (especially on a mild uphhill) but I will get it.

Here's a pic tucked away. I'll add some more soon.

Mario

Congratulations! Clutch will become second nature. Trust it on uphills.

Congrats Mario and welcome. I'm still trying to figure out the clutch, but getting better. First day was a disaster.

Agree on the clutch -- but it is still a bit daunting on steep uphills…

You'll have more excitement from this car than any other… And, for sonic bliss, get to a tunnel and rev it through 2nd (80km/hr) or 3rd gear from 4,000 through 5,000 -- the sound is unmatched. Cheers

Lol, I endured 3 red lights right near my house. People passing me with the requisite "learn how to drive!" ,

Yeah, yeah. The key is not to practice letting out the clutch to just the point it starts to engage -- you'll learn that point over time -- and then back down a tiny bit until the light starts to change. Then you SLOWLY let it up through that point and as the car moves forward for a bit, then engage the clutch.

Second, you need to the have the Porsche dealer reset the clutch back to its initial starting point because it apparently learns from every driver over time. So it will be easier when you do this.

The DON'T PANIC advice is most pertinent -- but we all do it. Reset the clutch and practice that positioning the clutch to that point of engagement. We have yellow lights in Switzerland before green which help you get into to it. Not sure elsewhere...

Talk to me..... What is this resetting of clutch of which you speak?

Interested to hear Stephen.

My battery totally died after I bought my CGT and so I had a new one put in (in fact, if you ever get your battery really low by accident, it apparently never fully recovers). When I got the car back, I noticed that the clutch seemed easier to use. So I asked the dealer if they done anything with it -- and he was quite surprised and responded in the negative. So I chalked it up to more experience perhaps? Still it seemed quite a bit easier. Then the dealer came back (unfortunately by text which I no longer have, otherwise I would just quote him directly) with an "aha" moment that (and I am paraphrasing now as best as I can remember) because the battery died, something like the memory that the clutch had acquired from its previous owner had been erased. So it was starting from a de nouveau situation now which I found noticeably easier. I can ask him about it more again since this was a few months ago...

Sorry I realised my post about the clutch read wrongly: the key IS NOT TO PANIC AND TO PRACTICE LETTING out the clutch to the point of engagement so you can judge that spot quickly and accurately. The "to panic and" somehow got erased and unfortunately said the exact opposite of what I meant to say. Cheers
