Default Question for cgt owners

With 4,000 or 5,000 miles, why does the engine have to come out for service? I don't understand this with such little miles. Can someone please explain this.

I think it is to provide access to the engine. Although extra service hours involved than otherwise, not a big deal. The CGT is designed for it. Common in race cars.

I understand what your saying. Why does the engine need service with such little miles? It does not make sense to me.

The engine does not need to come out at 5,000 miles.
There is a major service that occurs well above 10,000 miles that includes adjusting the valves.
Like most race engines the Carrera GT has solid valve lifters, not self adjusting hydraulic lifters.
To adjust the valve lifters the engine needs to come out of the chassis.

It doesn't. The recommendation is 24,000 miles or 4 years. Almost all of these cars see 4 years before they see the mileage. Every tech will tell you that it's not needed to pull the engine @ 4 years, but sometimes owners want it done anyway (after all, if you can own this car you're made of money). If the car is driven very infrequently the rear main seal tends to develop a leak, another reason to go ahead and pull the engine @ 4 years.

I resent that comment.

Just because you can afford "expensive" cars, doesn't mean you enjoy burning your money. You won't be "well off" for long if you do.

But yes, +1 to what's been said here.

What exactly is performed at the 4 year or 24,000 miles "major" engine out service?
