I do not believe, however, that the seller has any duty to disclose what happened to the internet masses so they can pontificate on what they would have done, etc. BTW, I personally know the seller and he is a straight shooter and a very much known quantity in the Porsche world

I think the axiom that best applies here is "buyer beware". It is incumbent upon an serious buyer to do his or her own thorough due diligence before stroking a check for this vehicle.

Just my 2 cents. Best regards to all.
The word pontificate pretty much sums up Web forums -- I'll have to borrow that word, thanks. : ) (And that's not to imagine myself excluded from the observation ...)

I agree it's of idle curiosity to the great unwashed; the gory details and gratuitous imaginings. It's really only between candid seller and earnest buyer to document this chapter and hopefully, as with another car I encountered, if it's really well documented, it lays to rest any sneaking doubts and uncertainty.

When I read the original post of this thread, I didn't see the offer of a PPI, and nobody vouched for the bonafides of the seller, the car was on offer from a horse trader and that only adds a layer of abstraction, and an intermediary profiting in a deal that has no margin for profit, in my opinion. The real profit in this car will be at a Porsche dealer taking on the risks and challenges of the repairs ... and the paint shop, perhaps even more so .

I have to say this white Carrera GT is a great looking car through my optimist's eye. Buying any Carrera GT, even a zero mile untitled MSO car, is an exercise in due diligence, caveat emptor, unless one is of the means to roll the dice with half a million dollars (pre tax income) and devil may care.

As an on-again, off-again Carrera GT shopper, my car will be a weekend indulgence and mostly private track day adrenal gland emptier. I'm not one for a stable of unridden horses, nor do I have plans to resell, other than posthumously. So a "rid hard, put up wet" example like this white one could serve me well, if only I could plot a scheme to restore it to good health and not find myself with an expensive lame nag. : )

The car is back in one piece and on the market with a clean title and no disclosure of any damage. an earlier post said it well, buyers do your research.

Yes it's back on the market. Nice looking car. Is there any significance that it's being offered by an authorized Porsche dealer? Mileage and Carfax data indicates that it's done 10,000 miles in the last three months: 4/1 Carfax notation @ PA DMV 4,682 miles. 7/1 Car offered for sale by Porsche of North Houston and odometer shows 14,626 miles.

Just spoke to the dealer. He says they took the car in on trade from 3rd owner and were told the 2nd owner had the incident while still in CA. Dealer says it was backed in to but didn't have much more info than that about the incident. Says they're trying to get pics/documentation from 2nd owner. Also says 3rd owner drove it cross country which is how it piled up all the miles in a short time.

Dealer didn't know anything about maintenance history, clutch measurement, etc but was going to find what he could.

Asking $459,000.

Also spoke to the dealer - it's getting re - sprayed front bumper who knows what else. Dealer should have waited to have all the details figured out regardless the owner traded it for a 4.0.

Was this car part of Gold Rush? I recall seeing pics of a white CGT.

Re - spray a proper clear bra and some interior work mechanical work depending on what the dealer is offering to absorb it's most likely a 500k car to get freshened up.

It goes to show you the guys who are paying 500k for a super low mileage well maintained car already looks like a steal.

They had an orange PTS GT3RS 4.0, probably what this was traded for.

Also spoke to the dealer. A vague mention of rock chips and touch up paint.

This one will be priced like a unicorn.

Could be. PA plates. The last 10,000 miles must have been a blast.

I was there for that. Let's just say I'm sure that wasn't an easy 10,000. Lots of high revs at low speeds. Also, I'm not surprised it needed a new clutch.
