Anybody care to guesstimate that bill? Is $200,000 the right number of zero's? Sooner or later, the underwriters will do something really dramatic with the insurance rates. AS

Are you serious? I can´t imagine driving a car like that with any sense of joy. It may look intact from 100 yards away, but look at how broken up it is. How does the underbody and suspension look after a crash like that? Is it even possible to repair the carbon tub?
I don´t see it could be used for anything else than consumable spare parts.

I'd recommend paying to fly Ryan Hernandez at Westcoast Auto Body in San Diego to see the car. He could give you a good estimate since he has already re-built one or two cars. The cost to pay for his flight, lost time, and room and board, in my opinion, is worth it, especially when you consider the repair may be $100K or more.
If you can't get Ryan, maybe someone here can recommend another person that knows how much the parts and labor is for these cars? Bottom line, I'd go for it if the car cost plus repairs allows you to own the car when you normally couldn't. Keep in mind that you may only be able to sell the car in the low 300s, assuming the repairs were fully documented and done by a professional.

You mentioned that you are on a budget. Do it right the first time and buy a clean one. This one will be nothing but a money pit. It will never be true to how it came from the factory.

This yellow CGT is now listed on eBay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2005-...em380012890463
Currently 23 bids topping out @ $179,099.00 and the reserve is still not met
Personally I’d not touch it with a ‘barge pole’ without seeing the underside of the car first which I’m sure is hiding most of the damage

Just reading through there advert on eBay suggests that they also need to learn some grammatical English – Check this for a statement …
“WE ARE NOT IN THE BUSINESS OF ROBBING PEOPLE, WE HAVE BEEN ON BUSINESS FOR OVERE 15 YEARS AND THIS IS HOW WE CONDUCT OUR BUSINESS”
Now that surely has to be classed as Bronx education for you

That car is F'ed. I think its way way more then 100k to repair, put it this way a CGT that I know was curbed....not even close to that damage, maybe 25% in comparison it the repair bill was 90K. I say pass.

Just been on their main site, quite a selection of cars and even more CGT's !! their looking for $259,900 for the yellow one, a dear car even if it was shipped in to the UK with a strong pound, drop a $100 k off it and i'd be tempted !
