Hi
Does any one run front stone gaurds to help keep the doors and wings etc cleaner
In the uk,the roads are very dirty and full of loose stones etc
My car has the armourfend in all these areas,i am sure i read some where that some usa guys had some fitted.
I have sourced some hexy stainless, the same as the engine cover,to get some made.
I have a top man who can fabricate some for me,he makes dry sump tanks, coolers etc for renault f1,so should be able to produce something good.
Also wondering if there is any interest out there for such things

I obtained them after reading an article in Excellence Magazine a year or two ago. They were fabricated by Rod Crafters in Kernersville, NC. To purchase them, one needed to send a certified check to Arthur S. Weiss, the gentleman who did all the development work, in the amount of $1,600. After Mr. Weiss received my check, the vent screen panels were fabricated and shipped to me by Rod Crafters.
Here's a peek at them installed on my car:

The screens mount to the body by reusing the factory fasteners that secure the body panels to each other. The dealer technicians that installed the screens said that they had to slightly tug on the body panels to line everything up correctly when replacing the factory fasteners through the screens' mounting holes.
I consider the Rod Crafters screens to be well made.

The screens allow airflow from the front, underside of the car to pass through the vent formed by the panel at the trailing edge of the front wheel opening and the tub. The air passes through with very little obstruction while the screen stops foreign objects from smashing into the tub face or collecting on the sills. Even though I had some clear protective film applied to the front face of the tub, the junk collection performance of the sills was a constant irritation and the prime motivator for installing the vent screens.
If one plans on regularly operating ones Carrera GT at very high speeds (over 175 mph), maybe the screens are not a 100% good idea. They will slightly reduce airflow because of the mesh blocking some small percentage of the aperture. I'm not prepared to expound on the aerodynamic effects of such a change to airflow, but since I don't plan on driving my CGT near its actual top speed, I am not concerned.

I installed the Rodcrafters screens on my CGT and they look and work great. It did, however, take a lot of work for my local dealer to install them properly (eight hours). Still, they are the best alternative that I know of to a stead diet of pebbles, rocks and other stuff in the front wheel channels.
Ferrari did the same thing with the Enzo...but they did it at the factory.
