Nice pics Fayence, but I thought I had heard from another member of the rennlist that it was more difficult to control the car without the roof. Don't you have the same problem with yours ?

I'd suspect if you want to go 175mph+ then maybe having the roofs on might make a difference -- but having them off not only makes it easier to see and hear what is going on around you and give better hand signals, it makes the enjoyment 100x better -- just hearing that engine is everything!

I doubt that the handling would in any way be affected by having the tops off -- that monocoque is sooooo rigid.

It's the difference in aerodynamic conditions from top-on to top-off that's the issue. Chassis rigidity only comes into play at speeds substantially below 100 mph.

In faster sweeping corners, especially with any crosswinds, the aerodynamic characteristics could be different enough between having the tops on or off to contribute to felt changes in high-speed handling.

I haven't had the opportunity to try out the differences for myself. The track session organizers around here have all required that I drive with the tops in place at their events.

That's exactly what I wanted to know but apparently for most of you, you don't experienced these problems when you drive on tracks. So enjoy the sound of the V10 and I'll keep waiting to drive a CGT one day to experience it too when I be older (I'm actually 22)

Interesting, here it seems that they prefer they be off.

If I am guessing correctly, the concern of my organizers seems to center around confining flailing arms in the event of a roll-over. Something akin to the reasons for a window net for race cars.

Cabs and Boxsters have to run with their tops up, as well.
