I would wager a bet that given equally grippy tires, the F40 would beat the CGT on many tracks. Awesome cars!

MVD we understand your point of view, it is just odd that you expressed it at the
time you did. Ruf Doc took the high road, no harm done.
I love to discuss homes, architecture, landscape and items related to residential
property, just not after someone posts pictures of cars most of us dream of in our sleep
(and while awake).
Cheers,
Marty

OK, but we have to verify the results. You and I will act as impartial judges... we have to drive each car on a track, at least a couple hours each, just to make sure. I'm sure you'll agree, this is the only way

sorry, but the cgt will smoke the f40...the cgt still has a better power to weight ratio and better handling, stiffer chassis and better suspension , not to mention electronic aids...i would think the cgt wins on the drag strip and also on the track.....

I dont think so. The Ferrari is quicker to 60mph, and has a faster quarter mile. The F40 is a lot lighter...I dont think it would get smoked in any way by a CGT.

OK, you forced me to bring out the facts

The F40 accelerates about as quickly as the CGT (0-60 in 3.7 (F40) vs 3.9(CGT)) (0-100 in 7.7(F40) vs 7.8(CGT)), and again it weighs 500lbs less than the CGT. So the "power to weight ratio" claim is moot.

Not to mention, the performance data on the F40 was recorded with tire technology from 1989. Put some cutting edge tires on the F40, like you have on the CGT, and I believe the F40 would be the winner.

Do you have any friends in Beverly Hills? Or any friends at all with a comment like that? (kidding on the friends part, just messin with yea).

The CGT pics put a big smile on my face - the F40 caused my jaw to hit the keyboard. Still one of my all time favorite cars. I remember the year they came out I was riding with my father in his SEC Benz heading for Road America. He said "something red is closing very fast". As I turned around, a red blur shot past us - new F40 with "BYBYCOP on the license plate.

It's nice to see "real" people owning cars like this.

EDIT - The "Beverly Hills" comment was an effort to point out a very wealthy area with little room to move and houses very close together. I played chicken with a dump truck in Bel Air as I was trying to navigate between the Benz's and Beamer's parked on the road in my rental S4. I have no idea how he made it up the hill, much less back down.

haha!

All I know is, I've seen a lot of fast cars on the track - but I've never seen a street car as fast as the F40 I saw at Sebring. Absolutely amazing - I've been passed by a few well driven GT3s, 600bhp 996TTs, and some heavily modified Vipers before. The speed differential between those cars, and the F40, was amazing. He must have been turning low teens at Sebring on street tires...
