Congratulations on your future CGT! Pay attention to the 1,000 mile break-in period, which will give you time to get comfortable with the incredible performance of one of the best cars ever built!

I am a little pissed off though. Porsche indicated that they would only build 1,250 CGT's, and you indicate that yours will be #1257??? WTF? I'm looking at the letter right now, and it clearly states "Porsche does not wish to disappoint its customers by not offering them the promised exclusivity of their cars in the individual markets. The Carrera GT is the most successful high-performance sports car ever made. So far, no other competitor has managed to achieve such a high sales volume."

My guess is that the final production number is 1332. One more than the F-40. And the promise of exclusivity is just an empty marketing pitch.

After a little checking, I'll bet you were indicating the last 4 digits of your new CGT's VIN and not the dash number? The '05 with VIN ending in 001257 is GT Silver with Dark Grey, had 10 miles listed, and was offered on E-bay. If so, your dash number is going to be between 600 and 650. Your car would have been built around January, 2005 and delivered sometime in March? When you get the car next week, maybe you could confirm the dash number. Thanks, and again, congratulations!

Just as a little info, the dash plaque number is not necessarily in sequence nor in correspondence with the build-order or VIN.

My dash number is 0911 and my VIN is about a hundred lower than ...001257.

Cheers,

Cheers,
Mike - When I heard you received #911, I tried to get #980, but the number was already reserved, and PAG was no longer offering this option to future owners. Your dash number would normally have been in the mid 500's if it would have been in sequential order, or if you didn't have such significant BIG-HITTER status with Porsche! I had the car out on Saturday for the first drive of 2006. What a gas!

Default I'm a lucky one too!

Count me in. I got mine from Byers Auto in Columbus, Ohio in April of 2005. Thought I'd include some pics of the CGT's stable mates. Michael

Where is the Ford GT?

Very nice cars and thanks for the pictures.

Just a question:
Why so many high performance cars?
