You think thats the real story?

I spoke to Ben either by phone or email almost every day in the month before he died and never once heard him mention he was having handling problems with the car. His only complaint was that he was going through brake pads and rotors.

That's the plaintiff's attorney's concocted story to make his BS lawsuit more viable IMHO. "Keaton was having handling problems with his CGT" Bull****.

I won't repeat any private discussions with Ben, can’t verify everything in that article because I didn’t have eyes “on all places.” The comment regarding the CGT being "tail happy" … I am assuming is referring to high speed behavior, since the CGT is no different than GT2 or GT3 at lower speeds and in fact adds PSM.

Michael,

Of course, Mr. McClellan has no other motive but to see justice done, right?

All of our cars are inherently unsafe, as is a racetrack or trackday - by its very nature. We all accept these risks every time we enter a track as a driver or passenger. I've had two motorcycle wrecks and a shunt in the Kink at Road America in the past 5 years, and in each case, it was unequivocally my fault and no one else's, regardless of the particular circumstances. After all, nobody made me go out on a racetrack. I doubt Mr. Rudl, God rest his soul, would approve of his wife or Mr. McLellan's actions. This tragedy could just as easily have happened in his Lamborghini, had it not overheated that day.

This is clearly the new version of the classic GhettoRacer thread -- the masses beating on a few clueless sole until they give up and leave. I don't see how any reasonable person could put the blame on anyone in this case. It was an accident, plain and simple. I hope they throw the damn thing out.

This is a waste of time now,

all possible viewpoints have been expressed,

nobody has changed their opinion as a result of the discussion

so Please let it fade away.....

That would have been possible, until SOMEONE invoked the name of GhettoRacer.

Now we're all screwed.

I have lived through the administarations of Lyndon Johnson, Richard Nixon Jimmy Carter and Gerald Ford but never in all that time have I felt that our elected leaders were so out of touch with the needs and priority's of America.

This country needs to stop the rampant fraud and legalized extortion found in the personal injury legal industry.(And I am an attorney so as an insider I know what I am talking about)

We need to stop the oil companies from gouging us.
We need to get control of the rising cost of utilities.
We need to find a way to control health costs and provide all Americans some form of health insurance.
We need to bring our troops home from Iraq ASAP.
We need to prevent Iran from gaining nukes.
We need to really try to stop the profileration of gang related crime and the flow of drugs into this country.
We need to figure out how to help the 15 million illegal immigrants without sending them home in some form of mass deporation unheard of in world history.
We need to do a lot of imortant things.
BUT
What are our elected leaders fixated on? Banning gay marriage? Of all the things that need to be done that is what they think is the top priority? How much more out of touch can an electorate be with the needs of it's citizens? For crying out loud if they want to get married let them and worry about it when we have addressed all the other things I mentioned IMHO.
I agree with your about the fraud and extortion going on with the legal system but:

Help the 15 million illegals? According to the polling, you sound just as out of touch as the politicians.......Although, as someone who's job isn't @ risk by the illegals I can't say I'm suprised by your opinion as many @ your income level tend to share it..........My job isn't at risk from illegals either, but I'll stand with the low-income Americans rather then the illegals......

The oil companies are publicly owned- if the oil companies are gouging us all so badly and making such an undue amount of profit then you and everyone else who feels that way should be investing in them and oil commodities........

Drugs will continue to come into the country as long as we have open borders with nations who don't respect our laws- especially when they're rewarded for breaking them.

Stopping these ridiculous lawsuits and limiting penalties would be a good start to reducing medical costs. Kicking out the illegals who leach off the system would be another good step...........

With respect to the immigrant situation, we need to bring them into the fold, and make them responsbile and visible citizens (i.e. pay taxes). Our agricultural, construction, and janitorial industries would be dead in the water without illegal immigrant labor, because most of the 4.7% of unemployed citizens would not do these jobs.

Icon,

My bad. I'm a relatively infrequent visitor, so I didn't realize this thread had played itself out for some of you. BTW, I used to live in Birmingham. Great town. I still buy my nicer duds from Shaia's in Homewood.
That's all bs because in areas where illegals are prevalent American citizens are doing those jobs..........If American's won't do the jobs it's because they aren't paying a fair wage for the work. You're right most of the 4.7% of unemployed citizens wouldn't pick apples for $4 an hour but for $14 or wherever the market dictates is a fair wage- they would......

BS. If you are hungry enough, you will pick apples for $14 per hour, for $4.00 per hour, or for whatever you could glean from the remnants the apple farmers leave on the ground. You would lick the ground to gain sustenance if you were hungry enough. You would lick the farmer's boots after they walked in the pastures. And I would too. Don' t ask me how I know unless you are prepared for a fight. Trust me. You would. And Americans should start thinking about that fact and stop crying. Americans won't do those types of jobs? ****. Pure horse****. Then they will starve, if not literally, then spiritually. Time will prove this to be true. It has already been proven to be true in the last century, as Americans committed suicide rather than do "those kinds of jobs". Maybe that was simply God culling the herd, and maybe it will happen again. Close the borders and watch how fast Americans will do "those kinds of jobs" !!!

destaccado,
Hate to bust your bubble, but malplractice cases actually impact health costs very little. Obstetrics has the most cases and very high rates, but the cost of a delivery is still very low (less than $2,000 in most markets, including 14 office visits, and the unscheduled delivery)
What drives high cost is excessive CHARGES by thieves at every level, but starting with giant Pharma is a good place to look. Drugs that should cost 10 cents are sold for 10 dollars.
If your logic was right, all the old folks going broke buying drugs should just invest in Pfizer- doesn't seem like the right answer.
If you want to pay whatever wage it will take to get a college age American to pick lettuce, then add in the benefit cost and union expense, nobody will buy a head of lettuce- at least not one grown here.
Les' citation was pretty much on target, in my opinion. Do you really think he was wrong?AS

I've aware of the stats available on malpractice having little impact on health costs, I'm also aware removing illegals from the system wouldn't impact it substantially on an individual level. However, that doesn't mean steps shouldn't be taken to alleviate these issues..............

I don't recall the constitution guaranteeing the right to free or cheap drugs. If today's old people- possibly the most wealthy group of individuals from any nation in history, EVER- didn't save enough for meds. Tough ****!!! Last I recall this country wasn't founded on socialism.

In reguards to your head of lettuce example I strongly disagree. Doubling or even tripling the labor cost would not come close to doubling the price of the lettuce as their is alot more going into it's production then just gathering it..........I'm willing to pay 10-20% more for my lettuce to ensure the laws of our country are followed. Aren't you?

I am a vegan. I eat ALOT of lettuce. I would gladly pay double the current price for a head of lettuce if it meant the laws of our country were enforced and the people picking that lettuce were treated more equitably.
