For all the C-GT Haters
For all the people who say the C-Gt is too powerful, expensive, dangerous, etc. It is the best selling high-pro car in history.
"One Porsche customer in the United Arab Emirates has received a special Christmas present this year: Stuttgart-based Dr. Ing. h. c. F. Porsche AG has delivered to the customer a Carrera GT bearing the number 1,111. With this milestone, the 612 hp, 330 km/h Carrera GT is now the most successful high-performance sports car of all time."

I am sure some will say most of those are sitting at dealer showrooms only one thing to say. STOP YOUR

Forgive me for saying this, because I do think the CGT is an awesome machine, and the sound is great... but I've seen CGTs in person and F40s in person. The F40 is simply in a different league. Put them next to each other, and I'd be standing on top of the CGT to get a better look at the F40. Maybe I'm just stuck in the 80s
I don't think you can say the CGT is the most successful supercar of all time. How about the huge impact of the Countache, the F40, the 288 GTO, the 959, etc? Those cars were legends in their own time, they were magic. The CGT is great, but I don't get the same feeling as I do from those other cars. Of course, I've never driven any of these

Porsche claims production will stop at 1250 cars. But honestly who can trust them? They intially claimed they would only build 750 and at a price of $350,000 (which is the correct price of the car). They subsequently doubled the production and raised the price by $100,000.
As to comparing the F40 to the CGT, I believe it is very telling that the F40 (assuming you can find one to buy) that is over 10 years old probably will fetch as much as a used CGT.

I don't think anyone actually hates the CGT, it's a great machine and I don't think there's a person here who wouldn't love to own one. The problem we have is the company behind the car, not the car itself.

Production is capped at 1250 and this is 1,111 meaning 139 more to be delivered between Christmas 2005 and April 2006, sounds about right.
I cannot see any justification in the CGT being called the most successful high performance car in history, compared to what? What is the basis for the claim? Numbers built versus HP?
The most successful high perfromance Porsche for me was the 959 because not only did they sell all they built for a very high price, it actually went "real" motor racing, on track and off road, from the Le Mans 24hr to the Paris-Dakar.
Interesting thread title as well. CGT haters on a Porsche forum claimed by a registered user with 18 posts.
By the way seeing as I have quite some seat time in the CGT, I will say it is not a car for the average person whether you can afford one or not.
It's not a crime against humanity nor against the wider Porsche community not to like every car that Porsche KG and then Porsche AG manufactured. In the end they are just cars, not religious icons.
Ciao,
Adrian.

Nick I think I saw a video with you driving your 430, I hope you weren't wearing your long johns.

I do hope the CGT price stabilizes. It is a special car for the right type of driver/owner. Unfortunately, Porsche is doing everything it can to diminish the value of the car. Again on another site, it is being reported that the 997 TT will stay with the CGT up to speeds of 160mph. With AWD the 997 TT will be a fierce competitor on the track for the average driver.
BTW, I saw that video on another site and honestly the Ferrari driver exercised poor judgment. He needed my RED longjohns to moderate his actions.
