Default Track Wheels?

Anyone aware of any aftermarket wheels that fit the Carrera GT so I can take those on tracks, etc. so that I don't damage the stock wheels?

I don't really know, but you need to find a company that makes custom wheels with center mounts in 19 & 20" sizes. Perhaps BBS or OZ has something?

Keep in mind that the OEM wheels are very light - you would not want to put something heavy on there and ruin the performance! Btw, I track mine quite a bit, and the OE wheels work great. Just don't curb or break one! Or, just buy a new one if you do - it's the same as buying a whole new set of custom wheels

I agree with Ray! This is one car where I would not use aftermarket wheels. Read some of the development books on the CGT and you will come to appreciate the technical sophistication of these light, magnesium beauties.

I agree stick with the stock wheels.

The rubber on the tires extends past the wheel so I don't think they are nearly as susceptible to curbing as most other high performance rims.

You should be able to get something from BBS. The video of a prototype CGT lapping at Weissach shows the car using BBS wheels.

BBS Motorsport can supply the wheels at around $5k dollars per set of four. These will be 19" front and rear so the rear tyre aspect ratio would have to be higher. Wheel widths same as stock.

I believe the CGT Jay Leno and someone else drove in a high-speed test session (Panorama, sometime last time year) had smaller-than-stock wheels on it. Probably more for tire selection reasons than anything else.

Manthey Racing has BBS wheels that were made at their specs available for the CGT.

PCNA said that if i use any alternate wheel, anything that happens as a result of that will not be covered under warranty.

That is true of any car

Sounds like BBS has your solution.

Just spent a month trying to find stickier tires and a wheel combination for the cgt on track with no luck. Researched the BBS 18" wheels but the tires were too different; didn't want to change the OD or give up any width and didn't want to go to full slicks. Too bad that Michelin doesn't make the PSC's with the same dimensions as the cgt OE PS2's. If the car had more grip it would be even more fun on the track. Maybe if enough cgt owners asked, Michelin would respond to the opportunity.

BBS wheels, they look really close to the ones used on 996 GT3 RSR.
On the 996 GT3 RSR, the dimensions are:
front: 10J x 18 ET 15
rear: 11H x 18 ET 16

For the CGT, the dimensions are:
front: 9,5 J X 19
rear: 12J X 20
Right?

Looks like the 10.5 x 18 Magnisium fronts from Manthey .The rears are 13 x 18. Manthey claims the Michelin slicks worked quite well for grip with the 18 inch sized wheels when tested at the Ring.

Thanks for the Manthey reference. I spoke to Olaf today and they just posted a package for the cgt:

http://www.manthey-motors.de/mainfra...lang=de&e1=138

Looks good. They even include the steering rack stops and the tire pressure monitors in the package. He said it felt like a real race car during testing at Hockenheim. With same OD's and full clearance on the calipers, no other mods are required. Sounds like a project for next spring.

Good for you. Hope it works out when spring gets around.
