The dealers can mark up the cars all they want, but without a willing buyer, the cars just sit.

It's the buyers willing to pay those marked-up prices that drive up the market price, not the dealers. (If the dealers could do it, we'd all be paying $50,000 for Honda Civics).

Keep thinking that way. I do not need well heeled Porsche guys chasing Ferrari's.

However,

Ferrari is quietly increasing production volumes, so the premium might not last. Typical thinking, the Manufacturer observes that existing supply creates a premium so they increase production, and increase production, and so it goes.

The bottom has fallen out of the Ferrrari market before, and it will again.

well, having just me a chap who has a pair of them in his garage full of exotics, and asked which car he'd keep if he had to clean house he said the CGT, not the Enzo. This is someone who also races a 360 Challange car and a Cup car, so knows his driving.

I for one have just started my CGT savings plan!!

Most really high value limited production cars don't achieve the multiple of MSRP effect until decades have passed. Witness the Ferrari 275 GTB/4 market and Lussos for heavens sakes fetching more than 10 times their original MSRP. Yet F40's, genuine supercars, are trading near their original MSRP. The reality is that F40's are still too new and there are too many around.
I love my CGT and intend to keep it as long as I live, but I have no illusions as to its value in the market today. 30 years from now could be very different, but not now, not even with less cars in total (1200). Coincidentally, Ferrari sold a little over 1,300 F40's, but only 349 F50s (trading higher than MSRP and 399 Enzos, also above MSRP. It seems as the magic number for over MSRP value is somewhere less than 400 units in total.

How long (2006/2007) before used CGT prices hit the $250K mark ?

This would be my "affordability" zone...
