Default One of a kind . . . Gulf Blue CGT

With permission of the new owner, here are two photos of the only Gulf Blue Carrera GT in the world. By the way, after years of reading reviews about the difficult clutch, he's already very comfortable with it. It seems like another case of the media creating a mountain out of a mole hill.

I like Gulf Blue, although from what I see here, I do think it fits the CGT well.

Thank you very much for posting the pics. Gulf Blue is a very interesting color for the CGT. I would love to see how it looks in natural sunlight.

Aren't you getting a CGT also?

I thought you--and the owner--should know that two of the people who complained about the CGT's clutch were owners of some of the first cars delivered in the U.S. One of those owners put 4000 miles on his before selling it. The clutch promptly exploded for the new owner and was replaced under warranty.

Ben drove that owner's CGT before receiving his. Ask him about the experience if you're interested, but based on the available information, I believe there was a very real issue in some of the early cars. It is entirely reasonable that there could have been a manufacturing defect w/the clutch in those cars--PCCC is a new technology--that caused the problem.

Porsche is not perfect and the first cars rolling off the line stuffed full of patented, brand new technology just might have some issues.

Interesting, evocative and maybe....provocative!

The only important thing is that the owner likes it. For me a little orange would jazz it up.

Porsche has painted 2 carrera GTs in the Gulf blue so far. I enquired about the color and they told me 2 have been done. They sent me a photo that I have been trying to post but it is too large. Thanks for the picture. I also asked if they would put the orange strips on the car and was told no. It can be added after with computer cut vinyl sticker, so you can remove it. Anyway I thought it looked to powder blue in the photo they sent me so I orderd guards red instead. It looks great in your pictures though.

Outstanding. Paint-to-sample is one of the best (and least often used) Porsche options. Few car companies offer customers this kind of flexibility. If ordering a Carrera GT, of all cars, why take a color "off the rack?"

Thanks for posting!

For the $15K+ Porsche charges for paint to sample on the CGT and $8k+ for brake caliper painting, I think most car companies would offer this kind of "flexibility" :-)

For $15k paint to sample body, and $8k paint-brake-callipers...

You can buy a car from most other companies. You can buy 2 cars from a few companies!

Wait..... you can buy like 4 decent 944s if you shop right!!!!!!!

If i ever ordered any Porsche new i would always opt for paint to sample, nice to see them in non-standard colors.
