Is the CGT worth getting?
My CGT is expected to arrive in 4 weeks. lately i've been second guessing myself as to if the car will really be worth it. Currently i have a 996 turbo that makes 750 hp and is currently in for open heart surgery. she should come out with about 900+ hp when all is said and done. i feel that i will be disappointed with the performance of the CGT after driving my 996 turbo. was wondering if anybody else is in this situation.

well....the turbo may be faster in the drag...but the CGT will probably slap it silly in the corners... and if ur using ur porsche as a drag car...i'm very very dissappointed ..
the cgt will still be the more eye catching car (unless ure turbo is painted in full lemans team colors ) and won't depreciate as much as the turbo..
if u ever get bored u can sell it to me

I was a passenger in a CGT at the track lately witha pro at the wheel. Take off the PSM and the thing rocks. Although, I feel that if I chip my GT2 it won't be that far behind. The CGT is nice because of it's wide lowered stance and engine, but I was disapointed with the interior which had too much plastic for a $4-500K car.

Who is your cardiologist for your 996TT? I also live in Cleveland, just wondering who you use for service. As far as wether or not to get the CGT, I say go for it. Check out the review in the new Motor Trend, awesome article. What part of Cleveland are you in?

Cardiologist is Evolution Motorsports. They are currently using my car to develop the EVO950 or hopefully EVO1000 package (I told them i don't want the car back unless it makes at least 800+ RWPH). so the car is actually is Arizona right now. We're are trying to have it ready for the twin turbo shootout on November 7th. Locally, I've been getting it serviced at Autobahn Extremist.
As for the CGT, I do agree, the exhaust note is addictive. I may have to get it just for that!

That said, I am NOT sure you will find it as competent on public street and highways. It is a jarring ride, with a finicky clutch and rides very low to the ground. This results in frequent bottoming out unless you are very mindful.
Also, the incredible sound of the engine is only heard under hard acceleration. If driving under steady throttle, it sounds no different than a Saturn.

When all is said and done, your car is STILL just a 911, a fast one, but still a 911. The way people still are fascinated any time a real 959 is present is the way the CGT will be looked at 10 years from now. A CGT will always be a CGT, and it will always be quite a sight anywhere. In terms of heritage, prestige, etc... i would keep the CGT unless you really dont care and just want a car to drive. At any event, a 911 next 10 others is the same to those who know no better. A CGT is where the action is. Its the supercar.
I can gut my car to 2100lbs and rebuild its engine for a good 550hp and torque and have a rocketship. Its still a 944. The C-GT offers you more than just power and handling. The engine bay is a work of art, as are the body lines. Its the whole package you must consider. Its a big personal preference though. I mean, i think whoever dropped the cash for an Enzo wasted their money! Then again i would have taken an MC12 spot if i had the chance in a heartbeat. Same car, difference style.
Another point...if someone backs into your 911, no big deal! Order a new panel. Ide like to see what happens in that situation to a CGT.

The CGT is lucky to get MSRP today. They plan to build as many as they can sell. Why do you believe it is special?

That's not what I've been told. I've heard they are building 1500 units worldwide, three-year production cycle. Porsche's philosophy is that exclusivity is part of what you get for your $450k.
