Cheap CGT experience: F430 spider 6-speed manual
I am not a Ferrari fan, but I've aways been smitten with the F430 Spider in 6-speed manual. Old friend and I swapped keys this early AM.
Most people think the manual F430 is overly hyped at over 2x the price of an F1 transmission car. However, most haven't driven a manual F430 either. I've driven both and I get it. I standby my opinion that the F430 spider in 6-speed manual is the closest driving experience to a CGT at fractions of the price for many similar experiences:
- 6speed manual w/light-weight flywheel for fast falling revs
- great throttle response from phenomenal NA engines
- mid-2000 feel with timeless looks
- neither feel slow even for today's 2022 standards; neither needs more power
- the sound track,... the F430 Spyder is so viceral for stock; even back to back with CGT
- CGT with Ohlin TTXs now handles great; love it more with each drive! F430 felt a bit dated in comparison, lower limits, but still mega fun - stock for stock is much closer
Sure, the F430 spider manual is a very expensive car, but if you are looking for a cheap CGT experience, an F430 spider in 6-speed manual is for you.
IMHO: CGT >> F430 spider 6-speed >>> 430 Scud >> F430 F1 coupe
Some pics. My friend also didn't stall the CGT on his first try and then put on 50 miles without stalling either.

I've owned 3 F-430's, 2 of them were Scuds and had multiple CGT's over the last 10 years. Never once did I think the F430 reminded me of a CGT. We all have differing opinions and that's what makes the forum great

Scud for sure not. Although Scud my fav Ferrari i ever owned. On track felt like a go cart with f v8 behind head. Tons of feel. Superfast2 single clutch kick. I was a huge 997 rs fan on track but pure fun on track in street car i might rank scud as my fav. Flame suit on Porsche forum.
Manual spider; i sorta get the baby cgt comparison. But nothing really compares.

I agree CGT vs F430 F1 and scud. F430 manual with LWFW / NA / free revving engine reminded me of CGT. Maybe better way to put it is that I understand why the value of manual F430s are multiple times of same car with F1 transmission. 🙂

Manual F430 is fractions of CGT. Yes, nothing truly compares! 🙂

Ferrari never made a 'gated scud'.

You know what? that Ferrari never made a Scud with a manual transmission? You've posted a pic of what looks like a Scud with a stick. Doesn't mean it left the factory this way because all Scuderias were F-1 transmissions. I know someone converted a Challenge stradale to a manual, so if I had to guess as to your picture I'd say the same thing happened here, someone converted a paddle shift to a manual box after it left Ferrari. Do you know something different? Is this your car in the photo?
