Those with personal experience compare a CGT vs F40, F50 etc
I'm on the border of selling most of my collection to concentrate on one car with a nice daily on the side.
Had a chance at an F40 when they were <400K but those days are gone.
Actually the F40 is my favorite Ferrari theoretically but have never driven one. I have my second favorite in a carbed 512 Boxer. Vastly underappreciated IMO.
I am considering selling most of my collection and concentrating on one car.
You can only drive one at a time may as well be the best
How does a CGT compare in a driver experience with an F40 or F50 ?

I had my CGT for 5 years, sold it (unrelated to the F40) and have had an F40 for the past 18mo. The executive summary is: very different machines all around (most obviously NA vs 80's Turbo), but I have to say as a 'complete' car the F40 has more for me. As a static object, i feel the f40 design is of a different caliber than CGT truly iconic and perfectly codifying a moment in supercar time. So incredibly evocative from every angle.
Driving wise, I find f40 much easier to drive than the CGT and more enjoyable. F40 feels lighter and more nimble, and the steering is direct with no assists so there is no matching the tactility and feedback. The CGT sound is unique and superior to F40 though the drama of the turbo is very special and it feels like you are going fast in the f40 even at slow speeds.
My CGT had substantially more maintenance costs and to be honest I often was worrying what would need maintenance / break next while driving. This includes the reality of the super low clearance and having carbon underbody panels .. the f40 is easier to drive around small back roads and its parts are actually quite inexpensive and available if needed.
I regret selling the CGT and will get another hopefully!

I've never driven an f40 so I can only tell you about the 8,000 miles I've put on my cgt but here's the view from two owners from several years ago. I haven't watched since it came out but if IIRC, they really each talk about their own car and don't necessarily compare them against each other. This is labeled as 1 of a 2 video series but I've never found part 2.

The F50 is more similar to the CGT driving experience. Chris Harris was recently quoted as saying he would go for the F50 over the CGT or McLaren F1 for driving experience alone. The F40 is also a great drive, but a few generations older than CGT and with a very different engine character being a heavily turbocharged car.

I really don't want to add value commentary, but I will, hahahaha...how can you justify $3M on a F50 if it's kinda the same as a $700k CGT?
Just my 2 cents.
Even with all the money in the world...that would eat at you wouldn't it?

Some people will gladly pay $81 million for a Vincent van Gogh painting, and all that does is sit on the wall. Collector car values don't correlate very strongly with driving experience, which is a good thing for the people who care about driving.

I've got an F50 coming to HI2, which will be driven on track with at least 2 CGT's that I know (but no F40 sadly). I'll make sure we capture some footage of the owners from those two cars comparing notes, as this is indeed a good comparison.

Feather weight like CGT barely legal big fan of Senna.
Driving / owning 16M Shumacher.
If you are set on F40 F50 nothing else will scratch the Ferrari itch much like the CGT.

I've heard really good things about the Senna...can you elaborate more on it please?

Drove friend’s Senna for few hrs. Sub 3000 lbs and near 800 hp. Insane power, very light, tons of downforce.
Not the prettiest Mclaren but certainly very radical. To me, styling very color scheme dependent.
It's pretty insane. If prices drop to CGT territory, mid 6s, will consider one as a lot of car.
Need a good Mcl dealer near by IMHO if considering one.
