Porsche only made around 1200 CGTs. It’s evidently much easier to afford the price of acquisition than to develop the skills required to drive it well. Sadly the losses also include fatalities. It’s not uncommon for intoxicated drivers to survive collisions that would have been expected to prove fatal. Another of life’s unjust oddities.

He has way too much money to ever be stopped from driving, even if that means illegally. Sad reality is I don't think him killing someone would stop him. He tried to pay off the passenger (friend of a friend) in the 12c he wrecked in goldrush. This won't be the last car he wrecks in major fashion.

  • Driving after alcohol/drug consumption
  • Driving on old, hard tires
  • Driving at high speeds on urban streets
None of the above are good ideas. 2 of 3 with a CGT > predictably bad results. Fortunately, no one was injured or worse.

Lest we forget, having another car enter the track in front of you.

One wonders if there ought to be a "three-strikes" law for crashes like these, and if one is in country on a visa or a green card…

Yes. I remember that as a very sad day. No fault of the driver, iirc—though most of us know what we're signing on for when we enter a race track, and that we can't assume all will go to plan whether it's oil on track, a flag missed (by driver or flagger), etc.

BC is a citizen and as we are finding out first hand with the Covid19 debacle, different states have different policies and although he might be banned from driving in the State of NY, I'm sure he will allowed to drive in some other states. I'm sure the great state of Georgia will let him drive, since their Governor didn't know the Covid19 was contagious

Is there any update on this story? Did he plead out? Repair the car?

He's back doing more damage! Just saw this video today 😮 You will have to search IG for the crunching video, otherwise I’m sure we’ll see the CLK GTR demolition video within the next few weeks.

Basically this guy doesn't know how to drive. Or he's just really good at crashing...

It’s Probably Time for Gemballa-Smashing Ben Chen to Stop Driving Supercars (thedrive.com)

He was intoxicated. It’s not clear if it was one substance or several. That the NYC DA dropped charges should be malpractice. The pretext for dropping charges is transparently bull**** since there were several police witnesses and video tape. https://www.motor1.com/news/494994/c...nyc-dismissed/
