I'm shocked that a used Cadillac/Corvette dealer with a Chevy powered 930 is being less than honest about their CGT...

Good looking out OP

Seen this CGT in person not log ago at Tex Hot Rides. What is everyone's opinion of fair market for it assuming it was all competently repaired?

For the record, their listing now says "Front bumper, rear bumper and quarter panel have had previous paint repair" which really does not cover the previous damage, but at least its a start because most dealers probably wont say anything.

If it's fixed properly, should be only a slight diminished value, if any, if I'm the seller. But if I'm the buyer, bout half off sounds about right. Even if it's fixed better than new, and it could be, it will always have that stigma of damaged goods. Might be a good opportunity to get a great car at a discount. I guess it all depends on the damage and who did the repairs. We all know that if a certain CGT guru gave his stamp of approval to this car, or any car for that matter, it carries a lot of weight.

Default Thank you to everyone on this thread...

...especially the original poster... I was looking at this car as well. It makes the small annual fee to part of this group well worth the investment. You guys rule.

and how was it in person? Did you get any additional useful information on any internal problems that may have or expected costs post purchase?

It was parked in a dark corner near the front of the showroom, so not much of a chance to really look at her in detail. Mitchell, one of the dealer principals readily acknowledged the damage history. With all this talk of CGT buyers wanting a driver vs a garage queen, someone needs to get a real in-depth PPT and work a deal on 1033. Does nobody any good to have her sit there. Give Mitchell a call 214 244 2956 (no affiliation). Good luck.

I think the problem is the advertised price doesn't fully reflect an appropriate discount. It doesn't help that many CGT buyers keep a careful eye on the market and have seen this car at much higher - close to market-correct - pricing previously. The seller also appears to be less than forthright when it comes to disclosing the damage history, as evidenced by their description on their website. Maybe it's just me, but this leaves me with a bad feeling about the seller in general... And you see the advice all the time on RL to "buy the seller as much as the car".

S**t happens and things get fixed... I think THR would have already sold the car if they were more open about the damage history and priced the car more accordingly from the get-go. Now, with the benefit of hindsight, it sort of seems like they were taking a shot at finding a sucker and only when that didn't work, they've lowered the price and added the description... Like I said, really off-putting.

Send it back to Porsche for rebuild if u can get it at decent price. We can afford it if spending 500-600K on this car.

^ the classic program is WAY more expensive than u imagined ;-(
unless the car is $100k, it will be much cheaper just buy one that's undamaged.
