Airbag Recall
Just reading a post on the other forum that, supposedly, the factory has no fix for the recently-announced airbag recall and that those vehicles affected cannot be sold as CPO. Anyone have any definitive information on this topic?

Here's what I found: http://www.thecarconnection.com/news...-suvs-affected
It's not a "spontaneous deploy" problem but a failure to deploy in some instances due to a sensor that needs replacement. So long as your passengers always wear their seatbelts, it's not nearly as dangerous as the Takeda airbag problem. I don't know about whether an unremedied car can be sold as a CPO. Probably not until it's fixed.

Excellent. I haven't even picked ours up yet and it needs to go into the shop

At least it's not the airbag, just the seat sensor in the passenger seat.

From what I infer from the other forum is that Porsche doesn't have a fix, leaving us pretty much in the dark. Heaven forbid, were there a wreck and a passenger injured because of non-deployment of the airbag, Porsche would be liable big-time. Here's the link to NHTSA: https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/201...7V133-9523.PDF
If anyone reading this gets notification to actually bring their vehicle in for the recall, please let us know.

At least the warning light will light up if the airbag is disable. From the NHTSA bulletin.
"However, in the event that the occupant detection mat malfunctions, the airbag warning lamp or "Passenger Airbag OFF” lamp will be activated in order to alert the occupants."

Update: Dealer finally has received parts to do the recall. (There are supposedly 9 different variations) Took the Turbo over yesterday a.m. They did the seat sensor fix and checked for the fuel filter flange recall. Dealer farmed out the seat job to an upholstery shop. Picked it up this a.m. and was pleased to find no damage or change in appearance to the leather.

Hmmn. Didn't realize it was something that required disassembling the entire seat. When I had mine done a few weeks ago they did that recall, the flange recall, state inspection and yearly oil service and it took less than a day for all of it.

To clarify, I didn't imply that they had to disassemble the entire seat. They just removed the passenger seat and sent it over to their upholstery shop. I don't know the extent of disassembly required to remove the old sensor and replace with the new one.
