Default V1 power cable to Panel above rearview mirror?

I have a new 2018 Macan S and would like to have the V1 radar detector power cable attached in the housing above the rear view mirror. I gave the cable to my Porsche dealer and they told me that they could not access that panel for 'fear of interfering with the car alarm' . They want me to get the 8' power cable and have them run it from the fuse box. I'd rather not do that as that would mean tucking the cable inside the windshield seal. The short cable consists of two very small diameter pins that would insert into a ground point and a switched 12v spot inside the panel. I have had this done successfully in my 2012 Turbo S and a 2016 Lexus GS350. I can't believe this would be a problem.
Has anyone successfully installed the V1 power cable into the panel above the rear view mirror?

I also ran mine to the fuse panel. I routed it under the headliner and A pillar trim, not the rubber windshield seal.
