I do not think you can rule out going to 5 stud. I have seen this happen on two raced Street 996 GT3's at Road America. Do you also need to change out the front stub axel at 40 hours?

chrcook: Was your failure on the right rear ? Every other failure I've seen is the left rear. What tracks do you usually drive at ?

Interesting point! Mine was a left rear too...and the car has been mostly driven on tracks running clockwise. i.e. most corners are right handers -> more stress on the left side wheel carriers.

Bill: It was my right rear that broke. I run in the mid-west, mostly at a small local track named Waterford Hills, but also Mid-O, Grattan, Putnam, RA, etc. Most tracks are clockwise, but both MidO and Waterford have very fast, high load left handers.

I ran used blue axles in the beginning. I had two of them fail at the shaft. I was lucky both times with no damage. Now I run the blacks.

Hi guys.
I broke a blue yesterday on my 6 cup. Turn 2 at Barber. Ugh.
I need the collective wisdom to figure out the correct part numbers for the "black" axles.
I have seen the part number 996.332.024.16 on this thread, but have seen a couple of other part numbers passed along by others, such as 996.332.024.23 and 996.332.024.10.
Pelican parts sells the .23 as turbo axles.
Which is the correct part number for the cup? or are they all correct? what are the differences.
Need your help asap as I am trying to locate axles for event next weekend.
Thanks
Pat

Can't help with the part # but the standard 996 Turbo Black axel is the correct part. Throw them out once a year or 35Hrs

996.332.024.23 is the most current / correct number for Blacks. I picked one up just this past week.

One's that I purchased last year were 996.332.024.16. May have been superseded by .23, haven't looked lately. Purchased fro Sonnon Porsche. Were about $800 a piece....
