Default DSM Mufflers

Demon Speed has been making some custom SS mufflers for the 996 GT3 Cup. We've run them on several different cars and done back to back Dyno runs to document performance.
Bottom line, we have seen a solid 10HP gain on the stock 3.6 with stock PMNA headers. We have seen larger gains on a 3.8, also with the stock PMNA header. You can preserve your $6k PMNA muffler!

Attached you will see the PMNA Muffler Dyno as well as the DSM Muffler Dyno. Again, back to back runs on the same day.

We have just completed a run of mufflers, with the first one heading out the door shortly, so they are available immediately.

You can order them here - $1,395
http://www.demonspeedmotorsports.com...ler-E-MUFF.htm

For reference, the dB sound peak is comparable to the PMNA set-up.

Hi John,

Do you have a noise reading on these?

Thanks

IMHO these are terrific muffler systems...My 3.8 saw a significant boost in HP and TQ over the stock muffler...I have run them for two season in NASA and not a single crack or problem...Noise level? They are louder than stock but not significantly...Great value especially when you consider the cost of replacing the factory $$$ muffler.

We showed on the dyno only a dB or two higher than PMNA. Can't really say what that reading was since it was indoors and not an ideal situation. There are also no provisions for measuring in the field, where you are mostly subjected to the individual tracks testing.
It is not a 98dB Laguna type muffler.

Thanks John,

PMNA have 2 muffler levels - 103db & 110 db.

I ask because many of the track I go to have strict requirements..

John, would these be legal in GTC3? From the 2015 PCA Club Race rulebook -

"GTC3 mufflers and associated parts, from the header back, may be replaced with a fabricated or aftermarket exhaust system which results in a car which meets a 103 dBA limit, and meets these additional criteria: the secondary piping may be no larger than 2.5" in outer diameter), must incorporate a muffler or mufflers, must not be longer than stock, and must exit as two pipes in the stock center location or, for early cars not updated, may exit on each side where the factory system exited."

It would seem that the two principle criteria for legality would be the 2.5" O.D limit of the piping and the 103dBA sound limit requirement. Am I reading this correctly?

Toby,

Yes, you are correct. Just like the 4" taller PCA legal wing uprights that we designed and made, these were designed and built around the PCA GTC3 rule set.

Several customers have purchased them specifically for GTC3 cars and are running them in PCA.

Thanks

Any 997 options by chance?

Wouldn't mind an alternative option.

Not at this time. The PCA rule allowing other mufflers is only for the GTC3, so we are not seeing a motivation to make the mufflers for the 997 at this time.

Thanks

Ed
