Default Longer lasting - Pirelli or Yokos?

Well, like the title says: Which are longer lasting (# of heat cycles) on cup cars these days? The Pirelli DH or Yoko A005? I've had good experience with both, but am curious as to opinions on which is more stable over the lifetime?

I like the new Pirelli's very consistent. I find from sticker to 6 -8 heat cycles only about 1 second

Thanks - what kind of fall off do you see after 8-10?

I can tell you that I can run a 90 minute race and not have any fall off. I ran my fastest lap at road america next to the last lap of the 90 minute race.

I also know a cup car racer that runs the thunder hill 25 hour race and they will do 2 fuel runs before changing tires.

What to the yok's cost per set for say a standard 997.2 cup fitment.

The yoks are marginally cheaper than pirellis, like $100 or so a set.

Chris Yokohama came out with a wider front this year in their IMSA cup tires. It's ostensibly for the 991 cups but great for any cup with rims wide enough to seat them at 280/650. It's what Selby uses up front on his Cayman. They match that with their 300/680 rear for IMSA or even better for your car their 330/710.....

Yes - I'm in a quandry on sizes. I have plenty of room for the 280/650 and 300/680, but I have 2 really nice sets of BBS Monoblock wheels which are 10s and 11s. That's the small end for those tires and better suited to the 250/640 280/680..... The pirelli 305/275 seems to work well on these wheels though.

Chris,

A remember GT2 is now eligible for the Yoko contingency at just 3 starters in class. Burnham won a tire on Saturday at Willow.

Cheers,
