amazing that such a small error or knock (not your error but of the guy to the very inside) results in a 50$k + bill for repairs. id imagine that tub is $25 to 30k delivered. moving the entire car over ahs to be 20k in labor plus the stuff that got busted, suspension, wheels, bodywork.
so brutal those street courses.

well, sorry to hear it dude. thats a rough check to write for no fault of your own.
that said, kudos to you for fixing it up perfect. i personally love buying cars like this, all fixed right and nice rather than worrying did the bodyshop fix or not fix the chassis correctly. costly to you, but the next buyer is going to get a mint machine.

very hard if not impossible to over rev a 991 so the over rev question marks like the 997 have gone...in fact the 991s are much under reved compared to a well driven 997

mines got the same kms 3051...your races in Canada must be short as I only did 3 races and a few tests with nick tandy..!

We did 5 events (10 races of 45 minutes) + 1 qualificaiton of 30 minutes per event (we usually would drive half of it) + 2 practices of 30 minutes per event + 1 regional event for testing before the start of the season. You do 1,000Km per race ???

At one point I was told Porsche was advising the GTD teams in IMSA to cut the front clip off their cars and reweld it to facilitate future repairs from front end damage. The logic was that as design it was near impossible to repair this chassis with a new front clip. But if you cut and welded it in advance of damage you could undo your work after a crash and then clip it.

Not sure how many, if any, actually did this. The couple team engineers I talked to thought it a silly idea and were ready to just retub if needed. Seems your experience suggests that it the right approach.

GLWS. Great to watch you progress over the last few years.

Very true Karl. I begged the guys at PMNA to raise the rpm max where the downshift would actuate on the 991, but no dice. So we get very little engine braking out of the 991. I'm told the supercup guys had the same gripe. One of the nice things about the 997 is it shifts when you tell it to....right, wrong or otherwise. The benefit of old school and fewer nannyesque electronic gizmos.

Thanks.

I was told that 7 cars (991) were retub in the USA including one that was done twice.

7 Chassis in 1 year ? How many cars do you run ?!?

A bit of an expensive proposition, carbon tubs can be repaired easily, airplanes too, I don't see how aluminium can be so hard to repair...

Karl, do you know how many labor man hours have been typical in a re-tubbing exercise on a 991 ?
