Nice car. Was the 150amp upgrade required to handle the Koolbox?

Koolbox requires 22 AMP on high cooling. With the addition of the 25W radio, we thought we were at the limit...

Following a question I got by email on why the car was retub and the extent of damages to other parts, I guess I should clarify that here too. I was pushed in the wall in corner 1 in the second race at the Toronto Indy. Nothing other than body was damaged except suspension arms and minor things but the shock tower was gone in the left front and the tub was a little bended in the left rear. The tub could have been repaired but the quote we got from a Porsche approved shop for aluminum body (Pfaff in Toronto) was close to the price of a new tub before the retub labor. I preferred to pay the extra cost to make sure the car was straight and holding a better value. I raced with the new car in 2 IMSA events since the retub and you couldn’t see or feel any difference with a brand new car.

You can even see that crash on YouTube:

Attached is a picture of the car after the accident. It wasn’t that bad actually.

For what is worth, the metallurgical properties of some steel sections on the 991 Cup makes it more difficult and expensive to repair correctly. PMNA also has strict restrictions on who they will allow to repair a car. For those reasons, and the fact that re-tubbing the car will make the vehicle as new from a chassis fatigue standpoint, it's the preferred route if the economics vs repair are comparable. Unfortunately, I just went through this exercise as well.

rubbin' is racing

The cost of replacement body and full tub swap, tune and shakedown must be expensive.... I can only imagine. Still, it is a scratch i wanna itch...

Car is beautiful example!
