Default Bosch Modas Software and Cables

Seen a lot of posts here about Bosch Modas and trying to source either software, config files or cables and what their function is.

Thought we can add a short bit on here to help those in need and maybe provide a thread for others that have configs to share etc.

So firstly the Bosch Modas software is used to configure all versions of Bosch 3.1 ( 996 02 -> and 997 06 - > ) and Bosch 4.1 ( 996 RSR 05 and 997 RSR and R ) ecu's.

These ecu's are also used in many other Motorsport applications but for the ones delivered in Porsche's they are locked and have to be used with the proprietary Porsche config files.

The software allows you to change various things depending on the year of firmware or software installed in your ecu.

For every version of firmware / software there are generally 4 different config files available,
1 V2 KIC config Customer,
2 V2 KIC config Porsche Motorsport,
3 V3 MSA config Customer,
4 V3 MSA config Porsche Motorsport.

The V2 files need to be opened with Modas V2 ( there are lots of upgrades here but the latest and easiest to obtain is on the Bosch Website here
http://www.bosch-motorsport.de/media...as_V245017.zip

The V3 Files need to used with Modas V3 and is also available on Bosch website here:
http://www.bosch-motorsport.de/media...as_v312002.zip

All of the customer software versions will allow you to change pit speed limit, set throttle position, clear and check fault codes / lights, change shift light, check engine timers and max rpm and temp figures. For the sequential cars an adjustment can be entered in for the gear pot value and also checking of the strain gauges ( most of the later cars have this info also sent to Motec for checking but some early cars where delivered without this ) and for the R's and RSR's traction control settings can be adjusted. The most useful tool of all in Modas is the view page where you can cycle through and check all sensors are reading appropriately

Porsche Motorsport configs can change engine tuning and reset engine timers and see a variety of other things that the customer configs will not let you see or adjust. These are not available to anyone outside of Porsche Motorsport engineers.

There are essentially 2 versions of the software V2 and V3.

V2 is to be used with the Paralell Port style KIC Cable. ( On the early 996 RSR's there was some functions that could only be adjusted using the KIC cable and the functions where not brought over on the V3 config with the MSA box, also there are some 996 files that have not had a V3 version written. Having said that the V2 stuff is a pain to use mainly because finding decent laptops with parallel ports is getting tough and the MSA cables are alot cheaper and easier to come by now! I have one KIC cable that I cam happy to lend out or would consider selling if anyone has a project that requires it let us know. )
http://www.bosch-motorsport.de/media...****/KIC_2.pdf

V3 is to be used with either MSA Box or MSA Box II. Both use the same software but there is a different driver available on Bosch's Motorsport page for each version. These MSA cables are regularly available from either Porsche or any Bosch Motorsport distributor, we stock them but sometimes easier to find a dealer close to you to supply, let us know if you want help finding a dealer close to you.

There is plenty of literature on how to use the software on the Bosch site but if you cant find what you are looking for don't hesitate to ask but please email us on karly@motorsport-services.com PM's will not be checked regularly.

Now as for config files here is what I have available and can email to people requiring them:

https://rennlist.com/forums/members/...s-configs.html

Also some assorted random config files that I haven't catalogued into car year / model folders but the numbers on here enable you to

https://rennlist.com/forums/members/...l-configs.html

Let us know via email ( NOT PM ) and I can mail out what ever you require.

This may be a good place for tips and tricks for Modas users to post helpful advice also, there are a lot of instructions written but also a lot that is not said! Particularly in the older software with the error codes being in german, we have some of the tables that convert the #'s to english translations and so on.. again possibly a good place to have some of this info be available for everyone before it gets lost forever!

Great info. So, in order to just open up and look at things - do I need car specific "config files" - or just the standard files on bosch?

Clay,

You will want the car config file, 'coz the workpage "view" is in the config files.

What car do you need them for ? 996 RS ? (If so, I'm also interested )

Great sharing of info.

I wanted to give RL members a heads up. Do not buy a used MSA II box from JMI Wholesale. I bought it after he contacted me and offered to sell one and it did not work. I e-mailed him many times about the problem with no response. Finally, PayPal agreed with my claim and is refunding my money.

Thanks, great stuff indeed. Like others I'm interested. OP emailed you a while ago, would be great if we could open up a repository on sth like Dropbox and allow us to download what we need!

What does it cost?

Default Modas

For the 991 Cup which uses MS 4.6, we connect with MSA II box and use RaceCon software. I'm not sure if that works in you car though. The software is on Bosch Motorsports website, but you'll need a file for MS 4.0

How can i find a MS 4.0 file for Racecon? Du you think it works?
I think the 2007 RSR works only with K-Line Interface. Not shure.
How can i get config files for Racecon?

put all the files, seed and cfv files in the \config subdirectory of modas. use the modas software you can download from bosch's website.
