If I may add, this car is not a standard 3.8 upgrade....this car is a full WC prepped 2008 Cup upgraded to full 2010+ specs.
Everything was upgraded.....the car was deemed too quick by SCCA and PMNA to run as is in WC for that matter so they insisted that it run with a 30% restrictor and an extra 100 lbs.

I actually raced this specific car at the Detroit GP in 2012 with those specs and it was as fast as the 2010's, if not faster, with those additional restrictions. Take that restrictor out as well as the weight and there is not Cup car that can hang with it other than a GA Spec 4.0 which is more than double the price. Plus this car has ABS and more aero.

Pat Long tested this car with us at CAL Speedway and was blown away at the car's torque.... see video here:
This was before the 2010+ body upgrades.

As you can see, these 2 ring motors can go more than 35 hours........that is PMNA being very conservative.
I have seen 2010 Cup rebuilds go for $40K when you need new heads, etc so another $10K more for 40lb/trq more than a standard 3.8.....that's worth it to me. A standard 2010 Cup can go well into the 60+ hour mark, I think a 2 ring 3.8 can go over 50.....as we have seen here.

Pick your flavor, buy this car and rebuild for a killer motor and you are into it for $150K and it's ready to race........or the other 2010 WC Spec car is ready to race as is for $10K - $15K more.......both are ideal cars for someone wanting a lot more than a standard Cup with a few bolt on upgrades.....

Sweet car at a great price!

So is the 2-ring WC 3.8 essentially the 3.8 rsr motor without the carbon intake and throttle bodies? I'm guessing with 8900 rpm it's got the solid lifter valvetrain?

Yes, this is a 3.8 2 ring WC spec motor with the higher RPM limit and bigger cams, etc. You can also convert this back to 3 ring like I did to my 2008 WC Cup.
The motor is incredible.......I would love to have a 2 ring Cup motor again....makes the 3 rings seem flat.

You're really not making my decision about whether to put the GT3R back together as a 3.6 or a 2-ring 3.8 any easier.... ;-)

Happy new year James!

Reference point.
Friend just refreshed his late stock cup at recommended interval....39k

Congrats on the Sale David!
Whoever bought this car got a great deal.
I know the complete history of the car and there is so much development into it.
The WC cars has been finely tuned and are much faster than a stock Cup but just as reliable.
I hope we see this car on the west coast........

Cheers,
