After several track days with a street GT3, I got myself a 2004 996 Cup car and entered the ADPCR Porsche series in The Netherlands. First season racing ever. All gentlemen drivers and great fun. This was my 5th and final race this season and can't wait for 2014 to start.

Well the sound was better when i bought it.
We are allowed to only produce 95 Db, where the stock EU cup exhaust does 103 Db. Car has new exhaust system but still produces 395 BHP (recent dyno test)

Stiffer and therefore much more direct
I find it easier to drive. More stable.
Cup gearbox super fast.
much lighter and therefore easier on brake discs / pads and tires.
First time ever out: 4 seconds faster on a 2 minute track (Zandvoort).
Feels 2 x safer with welded cage, Recaro Pro Racer, fire extinguish system.
My last street GT3 had no interior carpets anymore and lwfw but the
sensation of a Cup car with all the noise and rattling is just incomparable with any street car.
I never had any miss shifts in street car but now every now and then i miss-engage 3rd gear for some reason. All about focus and concentration. The Cup gearbox, i find, needs 100% accuracy. The street box is more forgiving.
Trailering and storing car, trailer, wheels, tires, tools is another thing and i do miss the fact that i could just drive to a track with my GT3 and back. But driving the Cup is 200% worth the extra effort.
