Out West we have several racers who run both the Pirelli Cup and IMSA's GT3 Cup Challenge by Yokohama. Although they like the Pirellis, the latest Yokes cup tires 2013 and later, are considered the better overall tire. Yokohama, like Hoosier, offers their contingency program to all NASA race and TT classes. They also have 240 and 250 fronts, along with 280 and 300 rears in the IMSA compound. They're called the Yokohama ADVAN ENV-R2's...

I've race both the Michelin and Pirelli Dh for 996 cup. Love the Pirelli, slightly softer side wall and can be pushed hard. I wouldn't say they are faster than the Michelin's, but dam close if not the same times. They Last a bit longer.

I'll add the Toyo Proxes RS1 to the mix. Am running the 245 and 285 combination on my .1 and they feel about as grippy as Hoosier R6's. They do last forever though...

Our slick choice is between Hankook and Kuhmos (both Korean I believe, 6,5)
Michelins, Pirelli and Dunlops (10, 7.5, 6.5 - relative cost score)
IMO the michelins aren't worth it re speed or durability, although some 997 guys do swear by them. 996 v 997 differences?
Kuhmos have blistered on sidewall so need to be bled off twice rather than started at 1.5 for warmup to 2 bar with 1 bleed to prevent that
Hankook have believers ... Yet to try them
The Pirelli seemed to be better off the bat but hit the cliff harder than the Dunlops .... So I go with the D, starting them off softer than most but as a late breaker it prevents them getting too much above 2.00 bar (29 psi) where I like them. Pirelli have got a lot cheaper here of late - marketing drive? - so down from a Michelin price to much closer to Dunlop.
