Bleeding the clutch is a hassle. I have seen, but did not pay enough attention to, extensions to the bleed tube/valve that allow the clutch to be bled from the top--maybe through the engine compartment or the wheel well?

Have you had this done? Is there a kit for it? Where do you run the extension so it is not needlessly near the hot parts?

U can reposition the bleed valve so it's reachable from the LR wheel well without any additional parts, FYI. That's what I normally do on endurance cars. If u r talkin about a '7 cup that is.

I can tell you that on my 964 (with a 5.5" Tilton and hydraulic release bearing) that I've plumbed the bleed line up into the engine bay, clamped to several spots so that it terminates directly in front of me when I open the hood.

I agree with KaiB, run it to the engine bay and bleed standing up! If you need a source for parts, talk to Eric at BAT inc. http://batinc.net/mocal-central.htm. He's not a Porsche guy but be patient and explain what you need, he has all of the stuff.

These are the pieces I'm going to send Chris. The clutch bleeder will be replaced with a special AN 3 fitting, 45" AN 3 Teflon/stainless braided line, AN 3 re-usable fitting with built in bleeder and bulkhead fitting to make mounting easy in the engine compartment. Cost is $55 delivered in the US. Once I get the proper length for the line, I'll have these made with crimped fittings both ends.

Thanks to Jerry for organizing this. The parts needed to do this are not exotic, but having someone put together a simple kit solution is a real benefit. Jerry uses top quality suppliers and specs the pieces needed for you. I also have the 6Cup air filter from Jerry and it could not be nicer at a price less than half what PMNA wants. PCA race approved and all for GTC3.

Sonny1, yes, the volume of clutch fluid will be greater with the extension of the bleeder by the volume in the extension, but that is modest and the clutch fluid is basically incompressible. The benefit of a properly and easily bled clutch line is much more significant, IMHO.

This all came to mind because it's not easy to bleed the clutch on these cars when the motor is cold. When it is hot at the track it's virtually impossible. I saw a car be packed up for home when it had a bubble in the clutch line after some work was done and the bleeder was inaccessible. The owner rapidly ordered a bleed line extension, but I doubt it was as inexpensive as Jerry's solution.

Small glitch in the clutch bleeder for the 996. I was using a 997 street slave instead of the 996 slave. They are different. The 996 has a 6 mm bleeder, the 997 street has a 10 mm bleeder. No one makes the 6 mm to 3 AN bleeder adapter. I made one for Chris to try, but I'm going to have BAT see if there supplier will make me a batch. So, for the 996 guys, you'll need to wait a bit longer. Sorry for the confusion. For the 997 Cup guys, I hope to figure these out at Daytona this weekend.

Have you had any luck with the 6mm to AN 3 clutch fitting.
Believe this is what I need to do a remote bleed for my clutch on my 964.

So all u need to do to fix it is get a Tilton triple disc with hydraulic slave cylinder. see problem solved...
