Default IMSA vs. Super Cup '09 997

Could anyone shed some light on what the differences are between a "stock" '09 IMSA spec Cup Car vs. one delivered abroad as a Super Cup.

We are looking at one that appears to be a "stock Cup" that was imported. Has receipt from PMNA to "reflash" ECU to US specs and something in exhaust (2 pipes) was changed at the same time.

Help!

Supercup is the series that runs with the F1 GP. The cars are stock GT3 Cups with sealed motors as delivered by Porsche Motorsports. The only exceptions I've seen is the addition of rooftop TV camera mounts.

Unless the series as a whole removed the cats and reflashed for the change (don't know why they would do that unless it was a fuel availability issue but since they run with f1 that seems doubtful) it was probably done after the season to repurpose the car. My early car came with cats and was basically a stock GT3 Cup.

If it is a supercup it would have either been a car campaigned by a team, or a Porsche VIP car which old have been supported by the factory directly. Contact the team, wouldn't be hard to verify the history of the car, if it's a VIP car you can go right to Porsche Motorsports.

It sounds like at a minimum you would need cats and a flash, but I would check the motor for seals to run a stock class. If the cats are on the car it could have been reflashed to stock after someone changed it or to verify that it was correct as part of a reseal?

im not sure of the 997 Supercups but the 996 had CF brakes, if you did a steel conversion the caliper allowed for a larger rotor. That was a no-no with IMSA.

I do know that some of the 997 Supercup teams were having to install the Motorsports pre silencer on the exhaust for some of the venues. (thats about a $5,000 option)

If you can get the vin you should be able to get your shop to call PMNA for some info.

check rotor diam, you might have to replace calipers and rotors.
I think there is something in the IMSA specs that the cars have to be stock as delivered in the US.

Check the gear ratios, I heard they were now requiring sealed boxes as well.

The Supercup Cars use an open exhaust (straight pipes). The headers and the cats are the same as in the Carrera Cup-Cars...

They also run the PCCB-System.

These things are the only difference...

I can post some photos of the exhaust if you guys want some...
