The restrict or plate worked. I may play with it some more later this summer when I schedule some Dyno time. Ed Baus is also doing some work there.

I think I'm going to build a weight box and try the slicks... now just have to decide which ones. I like the Hoosiers but....
Did you read Cory Friedman's report on the Toyos? It's post #4 on this thread: https://rennlist.com/forums/racing-a...used-them.html

I hadn't, but have now. Rear grip on the R6 was frustrating. Wonder where the Hoosier slick fits in the spectrum. Anyone here do a comparison?

Appreciate the advice JR. I'm climbing up the Cup learning curve as best I can.

Slicks are the holy grail of adhesion. You won't go back to R6's-ever....

I've tried them all and a few thoughts for your consideration. I tried Yokes and Hoosiers back to back at Laguna last year. The Hoosiers were a few tenths quicker but they were significantly wider tires ie: 265 vs 250 up front, and 305 vs 280 rears. I ran the larger tires on 9.5's and 11.5's. Hoosier's 250 fronts are smaller than Yokes 250 fronts: 9.7 to 9.1, and their rears are 1" smaller 10.0 vs 11.0 which is why I tested the wider Hoosiers. I chose to race on the Yokes 2 years ago when Hoosier cut their contingency in half. I've been very, very happy with their performance, hell I've won over 70 Yokohama slicks the past 2 seasons.....

So.... If you have rims larger the 9's and 11's and are willing to roll and pull on your fenders a little than I'd try a set of the larger Hoosiers. If you're using 9's and 11's then I'd try the Patron Yokes. Have fun....

Here's a pic with the larger Hoosiers....

That's the issue, I ran the Hoosier slicks on the last car. Like crack for sure. That's why I'm so fustrated with the R6's now. I have the standard 9's and 11's on the car.

We struggle in GTS4 with enough participants. Some days it's 7+, other days barely 3.... ...but I'm working on it.

not sure where hoosiers are built or they get their rubber, but for example the spec miata toyos that were built after the tsunami were a complete disaster. so bad that scca nationals went from the toyo tire to a hoosier R6-looking tire for the SM group.

i did a race in the SM and wonby a bunch, and was about 2 seconds faster than cars that were about same time year before. ultimatley, i truley felt it was because i had heard and read all about the new Toyos and their beng slow, went and took two sets of rains (unshaved slicks), and then shaved the down and used them. their production pre-dated the tsunami and toyo production being impacted.

just saying, it very likely could be the tire.

Understood, but for 15% more I get fresh ones... Not worth the chance in my mind. At $1,200 I'd risk a set probably....
