Pmna recommends 30 in the book. But 40-50 hrs...in a club race environment is reasonable.

Sequential gearbox needs it to.

Basically within the next 20 hrs between the box and a refresh that car will need $60-70k in maintenance if you have pmna do the work.

You can do it much cheaper if you know where to go and how to source parts.

Also be careful about tub damage on cars with lots of pro racing history.

That said....damn i want it! Maybe he'll trade for my gt3R that only has 5 hrs :-)

yeah thats what i was thinking, topp racing in texas is my guy, he says the rsr parts are hard to get, so if anyone else that owns the gt3 r's and rsr's on here can lead me in the right direction that would be appreciated.....any thoughts on putting a 997 cup motor in it?

If you want to talk about sourcing parts you can contact me offline and i am happy to share my experience having recently completed rebuilding a gt3r doing most everything myself (my friend Chris cervelli built the engine but i tracked down the parts).

In my opinion theres no point in buying it if youre going to put a cup motor in it. The 997 cups have all of the geometry updates which represented a big step fwd on the 04 rsr and they havr a sequential (with improved design). The thing that makes rsrs cool is that they are rare and special and a big part of that is the motor! I went through the same thoughts about a souped up cup engine when i was doing mine and decided that there was no point having an R without the motor!

Very well stated... Wasn't there a R or RS for sale recently with cup motor internals?...

I think Deman beat the snot out of one for several years, atleast i think it was an RSR. he knows those things dead cold.
give him a shout.

I believe this is the ex J3 car, I've bought a car from them and it was as described so they are good guys. I have the ex pat long 2004 TRG 996 RSR and can testify that parts are getting really hard to find. Any time I find things like uprights, etc I buy them and none of this stuff is cheap, even used if you can find it. Me personally, I would buy a real RSR versus an RS converted unless it has a lot of race history. Given the small number built, I think eventually these will do well in value long term if you can get a real one with factory rsr parts for under 100k.

As for the motors, they are 30 hour sprint motors and I personally won't run mine much past that because if something lets go, you could really be in for a huge PMNA bill. However, these cars are really fast as we are getting 475 wheel horsepower out of mine without restrictors at almost 9k rpm. I race mine once or twice a year (and will be at sebring pca) but for an every day racecar i'd much prefer a 997 cup where parts are readily available

Gorgeous!

Guessing at that power you are running a 3.8 2 ring piston sprint engine?

To the original poster: there are many flavors of rsr engine. So you have to consider that as well.
