Default Cup car wheel torque

Does anyone know the proper wheel torque for the center lock wheels on a '99 gt3 cup car? I have heard 415 ft-lb?

Is it a 997? If yes the right torque is 460 nm. But anyone now what a 996´s centerlock torque is?

Interesting, the 2002 Cup manual (page 88) says 490Nm/361.4054531 Lb-Ft for the stub axle and 460Nm/339.2785887 Lb-Ft for the wheel nut on our centerlock wheels. My 2001 manual only provides part numbers (a modified PET) for the car - no torque values.

Same values of 490Nm (stub axle) and 460Nm (wheel nut) are documented in the 2004 RSR manual (page 70).

So the 996 has the same torque as the 997. The 996 axle looks not as strong as the 997 axle.
Jerry> Do you have the manuel in a pdf file I could get at kopi of? Im going racing a 996 gt3 cup 2004 is weekend and has no data on car. Hope you can help

IIRC at one time they were specifying 400 ft lbs. on the early 6-cups CL's but backed it down after too many nut failures. 350-360 ft lbs. is fine....

Martin

I have the PDF for an 05 Cup. It is 36 MB so I can not e-mail it. I could burn it on DVD and mail it if you like.

The factory manuals all call for 460 NM (340 ft lb) until the late 997 stuff with the big gallade nuts and spring loaded stub axles.

Scott

Thanks for the info on Yousendit.com. I uploaded a copy of the 04 GT 3 PDF for the Martin or OP or anyone else who wants it. They need to send me an e-mail address and I send a link to the file.
