2011 Patron GT3 Challenge
Who has plans to run Patron races next year? I just sold my '08 cup. I'm buying an '11 Cup and planning to run the full schedule with Wright Motorsports.

I hear you, Pete. I gotta put a lot of chips in the bank during the off season. When i disappear for almost 8 weeks to go racing, I have to cash 'em ALL in to keep my wife from divorcing me. The money is what it is. You can either afford it or you can't. The demand on family is much more expensive and difficult to manage in my experience. I am fortunate that my wife and kids appreciate how important this is to me. Their support is priceless.

There are some rumblings that we may have a Carrera Cup Canada up here next year and THAT may pull me outta my 1year "retirement" as there are only 4 race weekends and all the tracks are a reasonable drive for me. Plus, maybe I can get a sponsor! LOL!

I may participate in some of these new races in Canada if they ever come to life. Although I'm skeptical that they can get a "no noise and cars on track limit" date at Tremblant and I'm not ready to do a demolition race on a downtown track delimited by two concrete walls (Trois-Rivières)...

Mosport is on the Patron GT3 schedule for 2011. I did a one-off event with the series last season at Mid Ohio. If you have a spec cup with a fuel cell, it's fairly straight forward prep.

I think the GT3 Challenge Canada will also have a Mosport date, perhaps coinciding with the ALMS weekend there. Would be great if that was a "combined" GT3 Challenge race for US and Canadian series!

Andre - I think the series would probably "piggy-back" off another big race weekend at Tremblant that already has the noise limit exemption for the weekend. As for the GP3R, the GrandAm guys love it and say that it's the biggest party of the year. I would hope that with a GT3 Challenge class, we'd be less willing to turn it into a demolition derby than the Conti guys cuz we're racing our own cars!
I'm not aware of another big race weekend at Tremblant in June. There is already 2 weekends in June reserved for the Track Club but if they can get it, that would be great ! I am sure everyone would love to race in Tremblant.
I was at the GP3R this year and you should have seen the cars of the Canadian Touring series / CTCC (they race their cars)... no intact fenders after the races ! Remember that you have a concrete wall at each apex and corner exit ! May be it was just the drivers agressivity level since things looked more in control in the Star Mazda and Formula 1600 series. Open wheel cars drivers may be more aware of the higher risks involved or can they simply be better drivers ?
