For a regular cup, you will be a lot better off just buying a running car. All used race cars are going to need some "freshening." But with the deals out there right now for a reasonably well maintained car you will most likely spend A LOT more to take a clapped out car and get it back in order -there are plenty of 996 cups out there for $45-70k in fairly well running order. Just look in the classifieds on this site, or on ebay.

So the bad news is I got really lazy about keeping this thread up to date...
The good news is the car is running! Have a bit more work to do before it's drivable and there is some body/cosmetic stuff we will eventually do, but in the mean time...

Awesome build. Since you've been playing with the intakes, do you know if the 08+ cup car intake manifold (i think its the same as 997 street) will fit with the 996 style oil filter housing?

No idea - I know the carbon plenums DO NOT fit with cup or street style oil filter consoles. don't know about the late 7 cup stuff.

Few pictures - got tired of buying stuff so started making it. Took it out for a shakedown but had a water leak (think I find it) that we couldn't track down at the track so only got a few laps in because of temp issues. Drives AMAZING!

All put together - still needs a wrap and a little bit of bodywork:

Laid up a nice piece of foam cored carbon/kevlar for a floorboard:

Just for JR (actually because my other headers set up for the mufflers didn't work with the 13" wide rear wheels and RSR rubber)

I'm impatiently waiting on updates to your build. This is very cool. Can't wait to see the finished product.
BTW, whats up the fuel cell - there's carbon on it?

The container for the fuel cell is carbon (most have an aluminum container). There is a flexible bladder inside.

Some detail work:
Carbon repair on one of the rear flares, in process. Ground out the area where there were some cracks and laid up some carbon for strength. Still need to sand it, put filler in it and paint it.

Mounting Motec SLM shift/warning light. This thing is pretty cool because it's on the CAN bus so you can program it to do all sorts of things based on any parameter that the ECU knows. Sequential shift lights, fancy warning lights, etc. All with just 4 wires.

Spliced into the Motec harness for the 4pin deutsch connector to the SLM.
