Default 997 cup 07 vs 09

Question about oil level

On 07 car there is a reglular oil dip stick but on a 09 car it also have a oil level sender meter, so is it possible to check the level in the Motec cluster..?

Upping this thread as I have discovered an oil level sensor (road 997 GT3 part) in the oil tank of my 08, trying to fit an oil level sender kit from a 6 R.

According to the parts list, it shouldn't be there... Does anyone know :
* If it is readable from the Motec ?
* If it should be removable to fit a R oil level sender without any ECU (I can't see why) trouble ?

Thanks in advance

Cedric

The answer is yes, absolutely you can do that.

In my 964RSR I use the factory oil level sending unit and configure the MoTeC to read a value of 0 for the min mark and 2 for the max mark. I then use the RPM scale on the warm up screen to display the oil level with tick marks at 0, 1, 2. When the oil is warm, I'm looking for the RPM scale (now Oil level scale) to be at 1 or right in the middle. This means that my oil level is 1qt from max. You could do this any number of ways depending on what was logical for you. You could have it read the total number of quarts if that worked better for you.

In the case of the factory 964 oil level sensor, I simply used a temp input which reads resistance and calibrated based on my particular sending unit which worked out to be 6ohms for minimum (0) and 76ohms for maximum (2). Approximately 2QT difference between min and max.
