Default searching for 996 gt3 cup tub

I'm new to the list and have an 01 Super Cup that unfortunately needs a tub to continue living. Any help or ideas would be appreciated

Sorry about your problem, you may want to call Spencer at Farnbacher-Loles, good luck!

Random thought but how about a 7-cup tub? They're plentiful and most of your mechanicals should switch over I think....

That gearshift lever and the body panels may not be easy to hang on there... Really interesting thought though. Since PMNA has said "there will NEVER be any more 996 GT3 Cup tubs" it will be really interesting to hear opinions on how tough this would be.

Forget the 996-997 idea... 75% of the parts are different...

Looks like Rick will be looking for a tub too after one of his customers had an unfortunate incident today

No one hurt hopefully? What car/track? If it's a 996, there is nothing to look for but a buyer for the leftover parts. That is sort of the point of this thread.

Back to HDreamer, before parting it out, about all you can do is get with a really good body shop. They have to cut the cage to be able to pull on the tub. Usually when the cuts are made, energy stored from the crash will be released, and things will start moving into a different shape with each cut, where the cage tubes won't line up, and the tub is still bent. Usually it's a lost cause at this point. Any sheetmetal sections that need to be replaced could be done using street GT3 body sheetmetal parts. Compare each one to the Cup tub and make any changes needed. From what I've seen & heard, this project will _always_ cost more than the result is worth in the current market. So unfortunately, think in terms of parting it out and moving on.

I would have an interest in both wrecked cups should the owners decide to sell.

We must have had several cars pretty near totalled at the NJMP club race this weekend. RJ Valentine's TRG Grand Am 997 cup looked pretty bad but his crew got it back together and it raced today. The Speedvision AXA / DeMan cup car in the same inciDENT did not make it out so well, I hope it can be fixed. Another 996 GT3 cup blew a tire on the front straight right ahead of me and whacked the wall good, lots of debris on the track but the car may be ok.

Mike nice job this week I tried my best but I could not hang. I have a good video showing the power in the 997 over the 996 on the start I will try to post it later. I was envious.

As for the cars; RJ’s was fixed pretty easily, he had a complete front end in his trailer to rebuild it with and the needed tie rod was driven down. Unfortunately he lost oil pressure on Sunday. The 996 cup that blew the left rear tire (New Michelin Blue) should be an easy fix. He took out the rear quarter panel, bumper cover and wing. I think he cut the tire on the back straight and ran two laps on it before it let go at 130mph. That could have been way worse. Do you have the video for that one you could send me.

As for the AXA car that one is non-repairable. There is not a salvageable part on it. The fuel cell even was destroyed. Maybe the motor but everything else was destroyed. I feel bad, but under the circumstances we are lucky in the Red Run group that those two cars did not cause any additional damage to more guys. I guess they missed the yellow flags and no one would ever want to wreck or cause a wreck but it happened.

This was my first real race weekend and I learned that you really need to be aware of the other guys out there.

Well I have a 2000 cup for sale. With the right offer I could sell it as a roller minus engine and trans.
