Default Re-join Cup Cars w/ Racing / DE?

A while back I remember when this forum was created and the stated purpose was to focus on cup cars. Months later I see activity here is very low (1 member viewing here vs. 62 at Racing / DE). I also see that this looks like a carbon copy of the Racing / DE forum - instead of cup car specific discussion, it's all the same types of subjects that are in Racing / DE (things for sale, looking for racing / de insurance, etc.). At the same time Racing / DE still has cup car discussion, etc.

So, I'm wondering what people here think about combining this forum back into the original Racing / DE one?

As someone not in North America the seperate forum is easier. More and more CupCars are coming out into wider circulation at lower levels of the sport worldwide so interest and questions will increase.

Combine then create its own forum when you have enough demand.

It's off season, all the cups are hibernating. They will awaken next week for Sebring.

I'd prefer not. Cup knowledge would get a bit diluted in the Racing Forum.

Red9,
There has been, and continues to be, Cup Car dialog (and Racing) within the Racing forum. Discussion on track use, suspension settings, slicks, electronics / engine management, etc.

Pedro,
If you just got here, have you spent any time in Racing and compared it with Cup Cars and found unique information here (serious no-sarcasm question)? Trying to determine why people do or do not think all of this Racing / Cup Car information should be segregated from all of the other Racing / Cup Car information in the parent forum "Racing"?

Rassel,
Can you expand a little on your comment? I think when Cup Cars was created, it was an attempt to give a separate forum for very specific Cup Car information, not necessarily Racing information, which was contained in "Racing".

I have a sense that finding / sharing information would become easier if it was all within one easily searchable forum vs. splintering Racing information into 2 places.

Racing forum contains just about everything. So once you look around there, any cup car info will quickly get diluted with social stuff, pinups, F1-talk, DE, club racing etc etc... Even the threads themselves get a lot of posts that contain just about everything. To be honest, many of the posts there belong in OT. But that's the nature of the Racing forum - I have not problem with that.

The Cup Car forum stays true to the topic. I think Cup owners pass here from time to time. It's just that new Cup Cars show up every 5 years, so it doesn't have the natural growth. Perhaps it's not as much as a forum, but more a knowledge bank that expands bit by bit.

I'd say leave it up to the Cup owners. I sold mine so why should I get a vote?

I've spent a lot of time in Racing but not a lot in Cup Cars so I don't yet know a lot about the Cup Car specific information in the two different forums.

I think it breaks down like this. In the beginning, it was pretty cup car specific. Now I see posts about all sorts of Racing information, information not specific to cup cars, etc. It's starting to look just like the Racing forum. While over at the Racing forum that has maybe 100x the volume of members using it, there is still lots of cup car information. My thought is that you guys here in Cup Cars are not gaining the benefit of the much larger group in Racing, while those posting here on questions about tracks, tires, etc. are not getting the benefit of the experience of everyone over at Racing.

I'm not trying to make work or take something precious away. Just noticed how this area has evolved and thought I'd pose the question to see if it would be better to put all of the Racing / Cup Car information in one place to make finding information / searching easier.

I find a lot of value in having the cup car forum separate and feel the information will get lost among the R/DE forum banter. The noise to signal ratio is better here for us cup car owners, making it easier to exchange information and for cup car specific searches, so we don't have to wade through irrelevant posts. Thanks!

I think that sums up the leave it as it is view. While I read the racing section when I have time (--I read almost every post in Cup section!) as I am interested in more than CupCars it is quicker and easier to find specific comment and info in a narrower thread.
