I heard they are pretty much the same but the price went up a bit. Would like to know more, have not found any real specs yet, just specs on the "2009 CUP S" which are all over the place.

My understanding is that the 2009 has no material changes - some minor improvements/fixes. A couple gearbox tweaks, etc.

Details are available now.

Normal GT3 cup is about the same as 2008.
Brakes are no longer floating disks?

The Rolex GT3 cup has a new carbon fiber front end, comes with the wider front fenders and no rear wing (you get it from crawford). Also adjustable trailing arms front and rear. 10 and 12" wheels. A tad more power officially 428hp / 424NM torque (wonder if they will have more as raced?).

Any more pics of the Rolex GT3?

CJ: How is the Rolex splitter different from the Cup S? Not as low I assume?

the cup S front bumper wraps all the way around and flares off the side of the wheel arch. it's a really wide body car. like a CTR2, or a 935 or something.

here is a picture

http://www.911uk.com/images/news/997CupS5.jpg

notice the different exhaust outlet- more like an rsr

the regular cup cars are narrow body.

CJ: Thanks, but I was inquiring as to the photo analogmike posted of the Rolex GT3 cup which is wider than the standard cup and looks near identical to the Cup S, if not the same. I looked at the pics of the Cup as compared to the Rolex GT3 and was trying to see if there is any difference to the front at all. From what I can tell, the Cup S front splitter may come down slightly lower than the Rolex car, but I am not sure.

sorry- the Cup S has a thin, flat shelf chin spoiler and bumper is taller, reaching down lower towards the ground. I'm not sure what rolex is running next year, my general aim is more towards the imsa cars and RSR stuff which I'm more familiar with. I don't really follow grand am stuff as much, nor do any of the teams that I have contacts with race there.

the chin spoiler of the regular cup cars were all the same last year- it's a 138 dollar part from PMNA. you were able to order it either with or without brake ducts- very similar in appearance to the GT3 street version, just taller. the above picture integrates all of it into one piece- which to me means a lot of people will be buying bodywork!

the cup cars I saw in weissach recently were all IMSA spec with the standard narrow front end and waiting for the plastic chin spoilers to be installed. it looks a bit different from last years part however.
