When I was crew chief in Grand Am (07-09), they handed me a restrictor for the 997 Cup. It went just in front of the throttle body. We had to turn it in at the end of the weekend. I don't know the extent of the hp reduction. It would be an easy thing to sort out on a dyno

I have been doing this with a restrictor plate between the air filter an the filter housing for a couple of years now. There are 4 cups in this area all retuning this way and one retuning all the way down to gts3 all still with great air fuel ratio.

We even have a neat setup made to accept different sized restrictor plates that we get laser jet cut.

I can give guidance on good starting sizes if you are interested.

Thanks

Ed

Also. The bmw's are throttle by wire so they do an electronic throttle percentage at different rpm point to make an electronic throttle stop.

What is the price for such a box?

Since a restrictor and limiting the throttle are essentially the same thing, you are better off limiting the throttle for a few reasons.
1) as you dyno and set your power output a restrictor will be a finite amount of loss and you will have to have many sizes to get the exact HP numbers you are looking for.

If you limit the throttle, getting the exact number you are looking for is a matter of turning a screw and set it.

Just my 2 cents..

Good luck.

We have a pretty good idea of the size of restrictor plate needed to get HP and torque to your desired number...I run a 3.8 and was able to get my car down to NASA GTS4 range with a plate. AFratio and dyno charts look great. I'd PM 911racer for details. Throttle stop could work too but have never tried that method.

You will cry if you buy one...

It was 1.175€ (without VAT) in 2011. Guess it became even a bit more expensive now.

Boxes are only 770 euro brand new from Bosch Motorsport...... this is retail... we can on sell for less than that but might be easier to find a stateside Bosch Motorsport Dist!

I started a thread on Modas stuff with my .02 cents worth also, have a look and see if there is any answers for you there too..

Enzo

You should receive a message from Dropbox with a link to the Modas files. I hope this is what you need

Reviving an old thread and looking for answers on how to connect to my 2003 996 Cup. I have the modas cable but when I go to the Bosch website it says the software needs to run on a PC with either Windows 7, 8, or 8.1

Is that correct? Or can you run it on a newer laptop? Any help would be appreciated...
