Default 996 cup shifter rebuild

Hi,
What options are out there as far as rebuilding these shifters?
Cheers,
Dean

Does anyone know if the shifter on the 996 Cup is adjustable and has a correct alignment? I had my gearbox rebuilt recently and only have driven it once but it seemed as though the 3rd gear slot seemed to be more difficult to engage. I assumed it was the new gear box but I felt the normal ‘throw’ of the gear lever was a little different.

Good question. I know there is a special alignment tool (plastic) that supposedly locks the shift lever in dead neutral which is supposed to be used when removing and installing the shifter...however, last time I removed the shifter to fit a rebuilt unit with the function first upgrade, I simply put the car in neutral, unscrewed the cables and installed the new shifter as is without the alignment tool. No issues to note. Did I do it wrong? Maybe someone else can comment...

I've always used the alignment tool. Also, the brass colored bracket that holds the ends of the shift cables on the tranny end can get/be bent out of whack. I have had to influence them back to the right shape/position. When they are right, they look kinda bent

Do you have a link to said alignment tool?
Thanks,
Dean
