Default Recaro 1300 in 996 Cup

Since i also asked myself this questions before:

It fits perfect on the original 4 mounting points and there is enough room for it in a 996 Cup

I really, really wish you hadn't shared this info. I've sat in that seat and it fits me better than anything else I've tried. The problem is that it's SO pricey. I've told myself it probably wouldn't fit anyway but now you've killed that excuse!

It will pay itself back very quickly if you have a nasty crash. I unfortunately had one beginning of this year in my 991 Cup and went into the guardrail with 225 km/h and walked away without having anything. Not even the slightest muscle pain the next day. A true testament to seat, belts and Hans device and a lot of luck.

I have been racing 996 Cup also for quite some time and always notice the left/right movement in my Recaro Pro Racer when i checked my onboard videos.
You realise how solid the 1300 is after seeing it not move at all.

Recaro Pro Racer: ± 9 years old
(we did already re-welded the rear mounting points as they tend to crack after a while)

^^^^ 996 cup seating arrangement is terrible. Sit way too high, seat wobbles. I spent the whole day last week with my head bouncing against the roll cage padding. I’m not even overly tall...5 feet 11.5 inches but with a longer torso. Does the 991 cup OMP seat fit the in 996?

Spiller makes a good point - does the 1300 lower the driver in the car? Just building rationalizations here.

Believe it does, with the mounting setup on the P1300 (mounts inside the slider), instead of on top of the slider like the 996/997 seats do.

The problem is the orientation of the seat rails. The best initial fix for the 6-cup is to remove the sliding rails and mount the seat directly to the floor. There are various aftermarket plates available for this or you can fabricate something yourself. This gets rid of some of the lateral movement in addition to giving you more headroom, better line of vision, steering ergonomics, etc.

Yes, the slider is convenient in some ways but I’ve had enough of it. I’ve put this “mod” off for way too long, next time the car goes in for maintenance the seat is being fixed for good.

Simon, you know what to do. Just drop the seat on the floor with alu mounting plates as I did. I'm 6 feet 2,8 inches.

I'm the same exact body dimensions as you and my seat had a case of the "wobblies" also. My shop (Musante Motorsports) was able to secure it in a fixed position, it made a huge difference. I could not be happier with the driver's position/posture, and headroom. Spend some time and get it right, it will be well worth it. Also, I do not use the seat bottom cushion, I think it gives a better feel for the track surface. Good luck.
