Default 996 Cup Shock Components

So I acquired a set of 4 Sachs shocks for my '6 Cup off eBay recently. They are in desperate need of a rebuild so they will be heading to David Glenn in the near future for him to work his magic. In the meantime, I tried to order some of the component parts of the shock assembly (bump stops, spring perches, etc...) and found out once again that these cars are now viewed as "vintage" cars!! The NLA parts include:

996-343-677-90 Upper Bump Stop on Front Shock
996-343-547-90 Counter Nut on Front Shock
996-341-513-90 Rollbar Bracket (used on both front and rear shock)
999-333-677-90 Upper Bump Stop on Rear Shock
996-343-785-9A Counter Nut on Rear Shock

The upper Spring Rest used on both front and rear shocks (996-343-511-90, the retainer positioned atop the main spring) is out of stock, as is the Helper Spring (the lower 60mm spring, 996-333-537-90, H&R part ZF060-050), the small spacer bushing on the top of the rear shock just below the two counter nuts (964-333-466-85) and the 50x20 fastening clamp (999-511-118-02) for holding the rear external canister.

The NLA and some of the out-of-stock parts "could" be another opportunity for Demon Speed to shine - especially the bump stops and upper spring rest. The rollbar bracket has been NLA forever! If you have them, hold on to them!

Thought I would pass this info along for those of us clinging to our 996 Cups.

Isn't the rear bumpstop just a standard offering from ZF Sachs (001748 153002)?

I think 996.343.511.90 is a dealer item and sells for about $70: https://www.sonnenporscheoemparts.co...at-99634351190

Was not aware of that. Interesting if that is the case. Have to find someone that sells ZF Sachs here in the US. Thanks for the tip!

Yes, I think that is the case for this part. It's just out of stock at the moment. Local dealer came back to me this morning and said it would be 1.5-2 weeks.

The seay brackets that thread on are actually 993 parts and are no longer made. Check with tarrett they make aftermarket pieces. Spring hats should be available from aftermarket supplier as well.

The bump stops are available from ZF Sachs here in the US for about $28 each.

You could also try calling Angelo at Anze. They are making more and more of these parts. He and I tried to get something together for me to sell his parts at Demon Speed after a discussion at PRI, but he is a bit elusive.

He was also looking into the set of 3 way Sachs shocks that James at SRP had when they closed up shop and I never got back from a year ago.

Thanks
Ed
