Spoke with Carrera Cup NA officials at Petit.. 3 classes as follows:
Pro, Pro am and ‘Rookie’ (This name to change for under 23 drivers)
Pro am geared towards master age drivers. Suggested 2 age groups: 45+ and 55+...?
Pro must run 992..
Pro am can run 992 or 991.2
Final details still open for discussion as of October 17. Competitors can forward input directly to Brian Blocker @ Imsa..

I wonder who would be classified as "PRO" as all the cars are being bought by (pro-am) gentleman or teams for (pro-am) customers. (i assume a double car team might have a pro in one car perhaps??)

In regards to the 991.2 drivers, i wouldnt appear fair to run against the 992? Would it make sense as opposed to the new "Sprint Cup" with all 991 cars?

Merely a guess but pro could be anyone who has held a silver or gold license in last 2-3 yrs? Agreed Pro class could be the smallest..
992 class and 991.2 class should be separate championship within pro am ie platinum/gold currently.
officials did mention they’re doing their best to keep all the teams happy which is impossible..

New series format.

Looking forward to seeing the new car!
I attended the official launch of 992 cup car in Asia. Some confirmed info:
1. new 992 cup car will deliver to customer Jan 2021 for Porsche Carrera Cup Asia.
2. new 992 cup car will have factory options for ABS/TC , but ABS is not allowed in Porsche Carrera Cup Asia.
3. Brake changed from PFC to brembo, suspension changed from Sachs to Multimatic, seat changed from Recaro to Race Tech.
4. Dashboard and control panel refined, much bigger screen and Audi type push buttons.
5. car is much Wider on front and rear.
6. rear wind tunnels for better cooling.
7. front tyre is wider to couple with the higher aero downforce.
8. ~20K EURO more expensive than 991.2 cup car.

this is going to become an issue for the privateers/club racers in a few years as a 991.1 already barely fits in an ATC when it comes to width...

Thanks. Sounds like it's going to be a significant step up in handling and driver friendliness.
