FS: 2008 997.1 Cup
New Price!!
Up for sale is my 2008 997.1 Cup Car, which I purchased in 2015. I have run the car only in private track days and Pro Auto/Speed Ventures events. Prior to my ownership, this car was raced in the 2014 SCCA Majors and Pirelli GT3 Cup Trophy Series, with several Wins and Fast Laps. Previous owner won the SCCA Runoffs in 2012 and placed 4th in 2013 with this car. It has never had any major accidents or tub damage. Always professionally maintained and serviced by Race Technik in Phoenix, AZ since I acquired it. It is stock Cup white underneath the existing wrap.
This is a nicely sorted car that has been professionally maintained/cared for.
Highlights and/or additions:
--KMP Paddle shift system, complete w/dual pot sensor, throttle blipper (have sequential system).
--Bosch M4 Motorsports ABS unit.
--Bill Rader Motorsports fully rebuilt transmission with break-in time only. Includes short 5/6 gears; 3/4 super wide gear update.
--67.3hrs. on motor, PNMA sealed.
--OMP HTE-R driver’s seat, Recaro GPG/Hans, XL passenger seat.
--Racecraft fire system 5lbs. Halon FE36.
--Custom exhaust tip/inserts for running at db-limited tracks.
--GPS unit with custom Porsche AMP harness adaptor.
--AP Racing Rotors/Hats front/rear (380mmx34/350mmx32).
--New, slightly softer than stock front/rear main and helper springs.
-- 3 sets BBS Cup wheels.
--$74,888./OBO
Solid car, runs perfectly. Additionally, comes with a nice spares package of mostly new parts (not worn out junk); will provide complete list to serious Buyers.
Thank you for looking!

Yeah, I'm surprised there aren't more comments like the last. The car is stunning. Tons of the right parts. And a fair price. Very well done! I love it, wish I was younger. GLWS!! Best Josh

Very nice car
Always a debate on hours but 130-150 hrs is almost the norm now for rebuilds. I have heard of cars with over 200 and still running strong and when taken apart look great. This is a factory sealed motor so its not even at it half life yet

Thank you for your post and great question-it is one of the questions I asked my mechanic before I purchased this Cup. His response was that "your mileage may vary"-if you are racing every weekend, wringing the motor to red line every shift, then expect a rebuild in 50-80 hrs. If, on the other hand you are running the car in DE and/or track events (which is what I do with the car) and are diligent with maintenance, you may be able to double that.
There are several threads in this forum about Cup Car costs-here are some quotes from users way more knowledgeable than I:

All I hear about with cups is the engine interval being short, yet I hear of lots of cars running 10,000, 15,000 kms between rebuilds. I know of one car that had something like 18,000 kms on the motor and then ran a Nürburgring 24 hour. There was even one guy on this forum who ran 275 hours!"

Engine and gearbox refresh thoughts posted here are generally nonsense...its a stock gt3 engine without variocam...if its got a blipper then the gearbox is usually in good shape. I had 17000km on a stock 07 for example, before blipper install. Ring and pinion is known to flake over time, skinny gears ie,pre 2011.5 cup sequential can also fail. If they've been updated to thick gears...Good to go...overrrevs 10500 and under, usually fine...loads of firsthand experience with loads of cups...I like cups...no safer racecar and no firewall, engine near my spine...Cayman is showing to be a great car however and I would do a factory race Cayman if I went that way."

Listen to Glen. He’s forgotten more about Cups than most of us will ever know."
